Went snett Sunday. My mate got a lot of attention and some what I can only class as jealous haters. Was a great day though. Took me until lunch time to start feeling my old self on a bike again

What a shame for the negative side, if I was at a TD and a superleggera rocked up to be ridden properly if be well chuffed for them.

Maico looks mega as always, sounds exhausting!

I was planning to get out today but sprinkles of snow and 4°C was way too nippy for me!

All the best smile

O/T but I'd be interested to know how you get on and what the recovery is like. A few years back my son had a double hip osteotomy with both acetabulum being rebuilt and some work on the surrounding soft tissue. Looks impressive on an x-ray and for a while you could see the metalwork through his skin. However it only seems to have been a partial fix and there may be more serious extensive work required later hence the interest.

If you're bored give me a shout; I've had to take 2 weeks off work (deadline to use up carried over holiday allowance) and could do with a change of scenery.

Yep I did feel for him. Working class guy, works his bks off. Gets his dream big in his 50s, buys all the ducati official kit and I persuade him to do a track day for it to be posted on no limits with a nice joke about paparazzi and then people in the comments saying 'look at them chicken strips etc'

Thankfully looking at the comments they're in a minority, but typical internet wkers. Wouldn't say that to his face on the day, happy to type it and act like billy big bks.

Most of the comments are exactly how I feel - fair play for using it properly and not just keeping it in your garage with a sheet over it. Proper job. So what if you're not MM on a TD?

Bit sad that some 'adults' can't contain their jealous impulses, but I'm 100% sure the rider doesn't give 2 fks about knobheads on the internet.

Bit surprised NL haven't taken a stick to moderate the total bell whackers, but I guess they must be thinking about keeping the 'peace' at the expense of this guy?!?!?!?

Brilliant to see an awesome bit of kit being used in the way the makers intended & not being hidden away as an 'investment'.

I'm really looking forwards to taking my V4S on track and debating whether to wear my 'new' looking road leathers (with virgin sliders), or put my old racing leathers on. Either way, I'll ride it the way I want and at the pace I'm comfortable.

I remember my mate Hobo (see if he lurks on here still) getting a brand new R6 and start off in Novice group steady away, but got quicker and quicker and ended up on slicks and ended up absolutely flying (literally at Cadwell). Shame I went and crashed the fooker at Mansfield (I think that's when he decided to put slicks on it, so it wouldn't run out of edge grip).

And today just got back from Mx on the freshly built maico 490... I'm roosted and had massive arm pump but felt good back in the seat. Loads to sort on it and I think it holds a record for how much can come loose no matter how many times you tighten it. Old school bikes vibrate A LOT!

If Carlsberg did bank Holiday weekends, that would be an option...

Popped into Essexshire for a coffee and a bap. Not been back since Scott organised a BB ride to Finchingfield which seem like a lifetime ago now.

I can see you're at the nicer cafe. Been coming here years but always went to the one in the distance. The cakes to the one just on your right are better though... And I've had a lot of cake
Yep very good cake smile There's a lovely cake stop up BN's way. Not sure what it's called but it's at the bottom of the hill after the famous burnt out café. Had the best every slice of walnut cake there....

Does the sandwich board on the front say "The end is neigh"? wink Not usually a HD fan but that I like, what is it?
Its an XR1200 ex HD Trophy Race bike, it was a one make support race for the BSB in 2010 and 2011

The race kits were supplied by Harris, 25 bikes were built, Jeremy McWilliams won the championship with Spike Edwards runner up.

Horn fitted, mot'd and road registered, lots of fun on the road and raises a few eyebrows on trackdays!

Edit to say I'm not in the slightest bit interested in Harley's but I saw these racing and made an exception.

Too many nice bikes to mention on this thread but fair play, I’m jealous. cool

I’ve just bought this old R1 5jj.
I’m coming back after an 8 year break. I owned a mint 4xv for ten years until 2012 (amongst others). In fact looking at these R1s 20 years on from new, was a bit of a shock, condition wise.

This one isn’t mint and I probably paid over the odds but hey, I’m back on one and I’m happy. smile

Bought about 2 weeks ago but didn’t tax it until the 1st.

PS. To say I’m rusty is an understatement and I was never that good to start with. hehe

PPS. I’m after a mint standard original clear screen and a mint genuine seat unit as mine has a few marks etc. Just thought I’d mention it.

How bad is the seat cover and screen? You might be able to save them with a heap of elbow grease and detailing product.

Hi Roderic,

The screen is a chavvy black double bubble thing, so there’s no saving that. biggrin

The seat unit is cracked around the front bolts either side (over-tightened?) and the paint is worn through on one edge further back. Looks like it’s seen a pillion a fair bit (the lunatic).

I am into detailing and I will be able to make the bike almost mint, but to be spot on it needs a new seat unit.
They’re £355 from Yamaha, which I’m happy to pay but they’re showing as special order which means either A) They’re special order and available, or B) They’re actually discontinued. The parts guy will only find out when he goes to order it.

There was one on eBay last week brand new but the guy wanted £380 inc postage. I offered him £350 inc postage but he said no. He reckons they’re discontinued, but he would say that. wink
