Do we have one of these already? If not why not? £1500 Target but less is better.

Let's get started:

There's not been one on this part of the forum yet

Ideally you should post pics

the first link is a CBR thou

Looks good for the money, they are quick heavy well built old buses

The second is a ZX6R

They are ok for a grand, a bit meh for me

What's the theoretical budget? £1500 like on the car side?

I nominate this GSX650F I've just picked up to fettle over the winter, cost just over a grand, 15k miles, on an '08 plate, £200 on powder coating and service bits should give a decent return come sale time.

You've done well for yourself there, that looks way too nice for 1k and change, I'm tempted to get a bargain second bike myself, as I love my own zx6r but it's ruddy useless if you want some comfortable miles.

£1300 or best offer...OK, the graphics need removing (space invaders?!) but from reading the ad, its been a well looked after bike.

Looks ok, Firestorms seem criminally cheap these days, I was thinking of getting one before buying the above, £1250 seems to get you a very good one if you look around on FB groups, early (95/96) 'blades seem to be hovering around 1500 quid for usable examples, they can't be that cheap forever, lots of bargain bikes to be had if you look further than eBay.

This one didn't sell for 1300, i'd be tempted to try throwing a grand at him if I lived a little closer.

They certainly are, I paid "top" money for my storm at £1900 but it only had 6,000 miles on the clock, every bill, receipt and had just been serviced with a new pair of tyres and came with some nice extras ...Not quite as bargain as some but I havent had to touch it all year.

The OHs 2001 CBR600 cost us around £1500 and that only had 12,000 miles on it too.

As you say, keep your options more open than just eBay & having the time to travel and view several bikes will net you something that ticks all the boxes for 125 commuter bike money.

I did this a few years ago. Was a good laugh doing it. But I saw some ste.

I made a nice wee return buying and selling but it did become a bit of a job.

I think if I was out of work or my hours got cut I would jump straight on this to make a few bucks on the side.

I buy quite a few bikes, its a combination of knowing where to look, finding someone who needs to sell and bidding them in the bks, also looking past dirt and grime, the GSX I bought has really tatty wheels and has not been washed for a very long time which would put most buyers off, but underneath all the dirt its in really good condition, its also has recent tyres and chain and sprockets which shows its had some maintenance, I reckon that after I have replaced all the service parts and had the wheels done it will stand me £1400 all in, similar bikes ore around £2.5-2.7k at dealers so I'll probably get £2-2.5k come summer, cheap biking for me, forgot to mention it also came with Givi monokey luggage hehe

I'll run it for a few months then move it on, then buy another one to sort out, it gives me something to do in the evenings and stops me having to watch mind numbing soaps that the wife loves.

12 months MOT, and new Tyres, might be worth a punt. Stupid looking screen though.

Anything that comes with mini or flush indicators is never worth having. That said I quite liked the f3 I owned.
