Is this open for birds who havent ridden their bike since October ?
Absolutely - I'm in the same boat. Try to persuade grumpy to bring out his dodgy handle-barred hipster-mobile. I have an open faced lid he can borrow.
I'm not sure I'll be able to crouch over the tank once I get my skinny jeans on
You'll be fine - the skinny jeans will stretch if you just do your usual pre-ride routine of checking your bike is still matching numbers and that you remember the last 4 of them in case you meet another Yamaha owner.
hehe

Game for this. Want to get out on my first proper run on the ZX6R.
You got a new bike?

Anyway, if I'm about I'm up for this!
Yes indeedy. An old J1 that is running very rich. Lots of pops and bangs. Lots of fun. Bought it in August and have only ridden it a handful of times, after it spent a number of months off the road while I got round to rebuilding the godawful brakes. (If you know the ZX6 six pots, you know).

I’d be up for going, depending on when, if I’m March it would be handy for running in my new bike.

Having never been on a group ride out before, how do these things work?
Is it more of a leisurely thing or is it all about ragging it everywhere, I don't mind riding quickly but I'm a fairly inexperienced rider on an old SV 650 and I wouldn't want to hold people up.

I've been waiting all winter for this post hehe

So I'll throw a date out. How about Sunday March 25th as it's the first day of British Summertime. Just for a change we could pop into Essex again as not only is it Scott's manor it was quite a good laugh last time. Just need volunteer from that side of the river to lead.

Be good to catch up with everyone and hopefully meet a few new faces.

Chris - when I saw that H2 rocket at the NEC I me and Phi commented that it had your name all over it and bugger me we were right :hehe

Congrats and i hope you get in time

If I'm leading, I do the second man marks the junction method. Nominated tail end charly and I lead. Whoever is behind me, marks a junction, roundabout exit etc, by waiting until they see the tail end bike (or counts them through) then they can ride on and work their way through pack. You just keep riding straight until you see someone marking a junction, turn or roundabout exit - then you know which way to go.

Everyone can then ride at their own pace. If quicker, you work your way through to 2nd in the ride, then mark the next junction and go back to the back.

Difficult to say what pace will be. I've been on these when a chap on an R125 Yam was mid pack speed and the group pace was slower than cars!. The last one I led in July was quite pacey as numbers were low and there was no real slow rider in the mix that turned up (very rare). Depends on mix of riders and number of riders generally. With the "2nd man marking changes in route, method", no one is left - you just string out and then the leader stops occasionally to let everyone bunch up.

If the pace is too quick or you are not enjoying it, just wave at lead bike at a stop and let them know you are breaking off and leaving the group ride. It's different to riding on your own or with trusted mates - just watch your mirrors, ride within your abilities and meet some new like minded people.

No pressure, and no judgement... unless you are leading a group ride and crash getting your knee down. whistle

25th March sounds good! I can't lead that side. If Scott's leading, I'll come on my Grom wink

Sounds good, I'll be there as long as I can get the time off work, I might even have a new bike if all goes to plan.

What a coincidence....lol

I’m happy to lead in Essex as I’m only 8 miles from finchingfield.happy to meet over your neck of the woods and if people want an Essex twisty ride then I have some decent roads. Toxic nerve knows them well too.

If the H2 lands in time I’ll probably still be in the running in period. Look forward to seeing old friends again.
