Thinking about it, I guess this latest trend might not just be a bike thing.
I can see campervans and other classic or rare vehicles being targeted, so the "YouTube sensation" can gain followers and a reputation as much as any financial or material gain.
The idea of intentionally creating and publicly sharing incriminating evidence seems like madness but they are getting away with it for over a year in some cases. In the past the legal system has made examples of particular defendants for making a mockery of the justice system so why not this lot?

The only solution is not some liberal Khan talking rubbish, the only solution is to hurt these kind of lowlifes real REAL bad, I mean real physical damage, broken knees/arms at least. No police will help.

I know it's unbeleivable how badly the Police have been cut. What's more unbeleiveable is people keep voting for it!

Massively reducing Police budgets while also underfunding the social and mental health services. Our PM really is a genius.
Sorry, more police is NOT the solution.

It's no worse that it used to be. Except in London & Edinburgh.
I disagree. It is much worse in Bristol and London. I have lived and worked in both and over the past 10 years it has gone from me being able to leave a moderately expensive bike on the street with no lock to having to lock it every time i move more than 10 feet away, being followed by little pricks on mopeds 2 up with no number plate, extortion on stolen vehicles.

You need to stop watching Death Wish and other films of that ilk. If the scrotes think they’re going to get battered them they will arm themselves even more and be even more willing to use those arms. Vigilantism is not the answer, all that does is escalate things very quickly and the scrotes are the ones with the least to lose and often the most numbers / force on their side.

I saw one on Coronation Road the other day. Scooter type bike racing down the middle of the traffic, two up with no helmets and no number plate.

Actually, after today, i fully agree with you.

Sunday, mid-day, went to fully wash the dirt bike down properly after yesterday (most was blasted off in tescos pressure washer yesterday) everything ready in the back garden, opened the garage door 1/4, second sense made me look under as i went to open it, eye to eye with two scally scum on bikes riding past on the rob.

Luckily all they could see was my feet, head, and first inside meter of the garage which has for winter BBQ, table and chairs, and not much else as the bikes are tucked down the back.

I know this might sound paranoid, but have you taken the van back yet? If not have a quick look / feel on the wheel arches and bumpers for little trackers being attached to it. It just seems a little coincidental that they happen to be on the rob, just as you’ve returned from your trip away.

Van went back yesterday. Bike has been fully looked over just in case - however it wasn't out of my sight at all yesterday.

Just randoms sadly. Checked the CCTV just incase and confirmed. One of the risks of living inside the M60 ring road.

Just fecked off that not all the mud is off it, and it will be harder to get it off the longer i leave it.

Will take it to the petrol station garage tomorrow morning and use the machine there.. I like to think there is less scroats about at that time..

It’s not the bike, it’s the van that they put the tracker on.

You’ll never get all the mud off, short of completely stripping it after every ride. You just have to accept that it’s spending it’s life in dirt and some of that will stick. I replace the fairings every year, as they’re cheap and it’s easier to do than try to keep them perfectly clean.

Seems relevant to this thread.

Moped gang attempting to steal a bike from a London driveway in broad daylight while being shouted at by the home owners!!

https://www.facebook.com/ShaunPants/posts/10155695...

surely the next step for these guys is to just pull up on your drive and kick your front door in, and rob you /kill you and just ride off.

They just don't care about being seen frown

Just seen this and posted on the other thread not sure what I'd do in his position.

This is even worse than just having your bike go missing.

They steel the bike, put it up for blackmail on Facebook. When word gets back to the owner, and he refuses to pay a ransom for it's return, they film themselves setting fire to it.

The one in the post is a beautiful old Triumph.

I refuse to watch it.
The page has 3 photos one showing the bike on fire, more importantly it shows the names and faces of the criminals maybe deserving the same fate.
Maybe?!
Until you take matters in your own hands nothing will get done. At least break an arm or a leg, no mercy.
Did you hear that London murder rate is now higher than New York‘s?
Welcome to you liberal tolerant heaven.

Bend over and take it then, and whine about it on ze internetz. There will be no „government“ solution.

They’re already walking around with hammers, electric grinders, acid, knives, machetes and so on. If you think that you on your own are going to take on a group of 4+ scrotes and walk away then you’re dreaming.

You can’t beat them all. It’s not a film where the hero wins, it’s real life and you are not some super hard case who can beat two people in a fight, let alone four. They don’t come at you one at a time, they don’t fall over with your first punch, they are more violent and less scared of using that violence than you.

You can dream all you like, but at best you’re going to hospital for a few days if you take on a violent gang like that.

Horrible situation, clearly phoning the police needs to take priority. I have to say I'd be tempted to pour paint down on them, maybe making them considerably easier to identify for some time.

I don't see how that would help either. The police still wouldn't be able to stop them even if they did happen to see them. All that would happen is they would come back to get revenge.

It seems like the only thing you can do is be rich enough to have really good security, or just not have nice things ..

Agreed. The amount of helmets commenting on the video calling him a pussy when there are two people with grinders and hammers with two standing by for backup, all with helmets on protecting them.

Internet heros. Angle grinder will slice you in pieces with ease.

One or max two smaller guys having a go with bolt croppers or something I fancy my chances, but having sliced my arm in half before an angle grinder is not something I'd fancy having thrust at me.

I wonder how long it will be until a shotgun owner ends up taking this sort of crap into their own hands? It has been going on way too long.

If he shot any of them then he’d be going down for attempted murder. There is no threat to him, which is what’s required. The scrotes know that stealing a bike is a minor crime in the police’s eyes, threats to the person change things considerably.

There’s also the small matter that most right tninking people don’t shoot people without suffering emotionally for quite a while afterwards.
