Touched a nerve did I?!

Also, if we're honest, the consequences of texting while stationary at the lights is just a little bit less severe than the same at NSL on a B road / A road / motorway, wouldn't you say? Not that I'm condoning it any circumstance, but let's have a bit of perspective here, feller.

And who's to say that there's a phone involved at all? Modern 'infotainnent' screens in cars are, for the most part, bloody distracting (in my opinion). Also, new driver, change in light sequence, new car (refer back to the infotainment screens) etc. It's holding you up literally seconds, friend. No need to be so irate.

Last time I drove a new car (hire car Vauxhall Mokka - hateful thing), I couldn't believe how much was expected of my congnition to drive and use the controls. Really bad idea.

For the record, and I'll state it clearly for you, as you may have a hard time extracting information for stuff not written in ladybird my first book style, I do not use mobile devices while driving. And as mentioned before, I don't condone their use either.

Your explosive reaction to have people aggressively robbed for using their phones - legally using their phones in many cases - however, is frightful and, I think, disgusting. I guess you've never been robbed by force at knife or gun point. It will not be a pleasant experience, I can quietly assure you.

So please, the only person displaying the 'internet hardman' routine here, is you.
Ok toblerone buddy whatever you say

I think you could probably have an argument with your own shadow

Not supporting the thieves, in fact I think they are scum.

But watching that clip you can't help but think how easy people have made it for them to succeed (with the phone thefts) which only goes to feed the further theft of bikes/scooters.

Surely education of the public and police on streets should be a priority rather than pushing the responsibility to bike manufacturers?
I look forward to your post telling victims of sexual assault to stop looking so God damn sexy when they go out for a night on the lash.....i know I'm sorta blowing this out of proportion but well...

Let's be honest it's not so fking hard to stop this. The young black gentleman must take a suitcase of phones to some ste hole in Africa. This must flag up at airport security.
Get his id I dunno, from his passport. Get his home address. Mointer him. Mointer his visitors. You know follow them home. Do surveillance. When you have enough evidence raid the fkers all at once. Maybe I've watched too much of the bill though.

And as for some annoying ahole using their phone and ignoring the traffic lights yes it does fking annoy me that I may have been held up by some dick updating their status on ttter or facebook, especially as the only people who are held up are all the people behind the ahole breaking the law using their fking phone whilst driving...
I concur with this. It’s not like they haven’t had 5 minutes already to prepare for take off. How difficult is it, green light go! They even give you the red/amber to prepare!! Instead it’s, update facebook, beeeeeep, oh, look up, oh its a green light, phone down, try to engage gear, oops, foot not on brake/clutch pedal/other stop start system complication, check, engage, oops handbrake is on, stall/hangback, release handbrake, restart/try again, kangaroo over the lights and screw every other road user behind who has to wait another 5 minutes for the lights to go green again so one or two more cars can get through. It is a very big deal, especially at 4 way lights where the whole process takes ages and it is massively inconsiderate to other road users. I often count to ten seconds for the lead numpty to disembark and often only 2 to 3 cars get through a light change. Now add that to poorly designed roads and even worse road positioning where a car turning right at the lights blocks the already narrow left lane which is going straight creating even more carnage. Then multiply that by a whole load of lights.

Cue 80’s style adverts with some catchy slogan, heck, to the soundtrack of Def Leppard pour some sugar on me...., red light, yellow light, green light GO!! It’s not difficult really is it??

Thank fk for that, I was starting to think there was a new sub section of traffic light rules I hadn't read something like:
When being held up by the very important person to update the world on their fantastic life on social media PLEASE BE CONSIDERATE and wait patiently for them to realise the traffic lights have changed to green for at least ten seconds as you wouldn't want them to think your not down with the kids and be uncool by wanting to actually proceed with your journey in a timely manner YOU INCONSIDERATE bdS.

But seriously though I have actually witnessed a driver sat through a whole cycle of red to green then back to red again while they were sat on their fking phone totally oblivious to their surroundings ( And yes toblerone I did actually witness this as I was sat waiting in another lane )

After watching the programme in question I can't believe that the police won't persue these theives, I mean they're only on scooters, police should go two up on a large supermoto and patrol the problem areas, a quick pnc check or the fact that their faces are covered, go over and bosh a quick boot on the scooter and a tazer and job done, hell I'd do that for free it would be fun, acid attack? fk that eat my extended baton and rubber bullets
Edit the reason more and more crimes Are being ignored may have something to do with the Fact that police budgets have been slashed since 2010 when Theresa May was home secretary

Was anyone else a tiny bit impressed at how deft they were at pinching those phones? They kind of reminded me of 2 wheeled seagulls stealing chips from seaside gawkers. laugh The other thing which stood out was when they were talking about a bike cover as thought it was some kind of high tech force field: 'Naa wouldn't steal that one, don't know what's underneath.' WTF!

I find it hard to get worked up over tbh because we, as a society, have created the perfect conditions for them to act and behave like that. The clip where they slapped the motorcycle copper on the back of the helmet illustrated just how little the care and how farcical the whole situation has become.

The worst part is that it would be so easy to literally put a stop to overnight...

It's a very simple crime, I'm sure some good old fashion policing would reduce its prevelance. A couple of bikes or phones with trackers in, some survailance work, a big net...

If you go to any of the phone theft hotspots, there are posters up saying beware, keep your phone away, stand well away from the kerb and next to a wall if you have to use it etc. Doesn't seem to sink in though. A friends brother has had his phone stolen twice by 'ped thieves. You'd think he'd learn the first time.

Make it hard for them, and the crime becomes too much effort/too risky.

Ok fair enough, what I meant was that although there will always be this sort of crime it's fair to say that it has reached epidemic levels. These people are not stealing to put food on the tables, they are stealing because they want to, because they can't be bothered to work, and because they are getting away with it. The fact that they are recording themselves shows just how brazen they have become.

To be honest I'm surprised there isn't more crime like this, what's the incentive to work when you can just take what you want without repercussions?

I've had a motorbike stolen off me 35 years ago, it still makes my stomach turn, the bike wasn't insured but I did get some satisfaction a few weeks later, I ended up being slashed across the face with a razor blade that was stuck into the end of a piece of wood.

The Police did do something about that.

Funny you should mention that because it happened not far from Wilkinswords factory in Cramlington.
