Ignore what I said earlier buy a wet dream - perfect fit
Back in the 90’s, I actually learned on a CB125TDC, and then rode a CB250N for about 6 months before buying an FZR1000 (which lasted exactly one month).... They do fit the slow requirement a treat.

You can go 'not fast' on a sports bike. If you're after something for the road and for and hour or so in the sun get this when it starts getting manufactured:

It's the new version of the Italjet Dragster.

With a 200cc Aprilia four stroke it won't be the fastest thing in the world but for a relaxing ride it'll be great.

1 or 2 year old Bonneville T120, or even a T100 which some say is a better choice. Great ergonomics and relaxed riding position. Test ride some options thumbup
Nice to ride and nice to look at. I bought a T100 Black to do the same thing, some might need more power but this works for me. The 5 speed box has a perfect set of ratios for everyday use and it's lighter than the T120 which shows when you ride it. If you bought the older model there's a camshaft kit available for around £240 which will give you ~75bhp. There's many more tuning parts available for bikes up to 2015.

I’ll admit and extra pound or two but that’s a little harsh.

Have seen a 1200XL that I like in a strange way.

So you all made me buy an S1000RR. :-)

I’d like something to keep along side it for more relaxed use. Steady rides on warm days etc. Something that isn’t a sports bike and gives a totally different ride. Cruisers, classics, trail bikes... loads of possibilities I guess. Anyone got a good answer for an ideal two bike garage?
I have an S1000RR, I bought it new end of may and it now has over 2k miles on it. I've done 3 track days and done 700 mile round trip to the peaks. Tomorrow i'm up north again to Cadwell, it's a fabulous bike which allows you to do a few hundred miles, take it on track and ride home, although I am staying over, a treat for me! Excellent, however...

I have also just bought a Honda Pan European 2002 for £3k. Sometimes I want to wallow and cruise and take off my boots when I get to where I'm going and go for a walk without carrying all my gear, hence the Pan.

Great bike, many are for sale at good prices.

I have a strong suspicion that riding that would turn even a bishop into a rampant hooligan. OK a 65mph hooligan, but still a hooligan. Unlikely to be used for a relaxing cruise EVER!

Pretty much what I was thinking, it’s a low speed/town centre hooligan machine. The opposite of relaxing!

Guzzi from me too

I had an NTV650 for a while and found that incredibly relaxing and fun. Recalibrates your speed/power/throttle senses too, so you end up riding your faster stuff a bit less fast. After that bike i'd be looking for something similar - naked, V-twin, lazy shaft drive, classic looking (but not necessarily old)

I just bought a Harley Forty Eight and sounds like the sort of thing you might like to try.

Get off it with a relaxed and happy feeling, it's great, and I find it comfortable too.

Have a look at a Moto Guzzi Griso. Drop dead gorgeous to look at , easy to diy maintain and rapid enough to put a huge grin on your face. I’ve had one for over 5 years and can’t think of many bikes I’d rather own.

My B-I-L has a Triumph Thruxton R and swears its the best thing ever for a fun ride out - Has about 100bhp, looks very cool but with modern suspension and brakes...

His other bike is a Big BMW RG thingy (No idea exactly I just know it's 1) bloody huge and 2) Blue.. which he goes touring on.. For him, the Triumph is the go to fun bike though
