You'll be fine or you'll do what I did and trade back down again after realising I was out of my depth. Either way you'll be fine.

You'll be fine. I went from a CG125 to a 955i Daytona, a top bike that I've owned for three years now.

The thing to watch with on the 955i engine is the starter sprag clutch. If the starting is at all lazy, get a powerful AGM battery fitted and keep it on a tender when not in use. I went for a Motobatt battery in mine - that and ripping the alarm out did wonders for starting it.

not had a sprint, but I've had two 995 engined bikes and its a lovely motor.

you will be fine if you are capable of some self restraint. I would recommend some IAM/RoSPA or commercial training to any rider who hasn't done any. I don't doubt its saved me!

Enjoy it, but please, please, please learn that it’s bought not brought.

You will be fine, just respect the additional power and manage speed into corners which will approach much quicker.

For reference I went from an RS50 to an R6 to an R1 by the time I was 19. Lot's of friends did the same.

Did you ask for an insurance quote before or after you bought it?

Just get it done! I went from doing cbt and running a 125 to a 650 in the space of a few months. Yes it seemed really powerful at first but it won't be long before you wonder what the fuss was all about and want more power. I've now got an MT-09 SP after 15months riding and love it.

hrottle works both ways, so dont worry about that too much. The biggest thing might be the weight and the riding position. Just take it as it comes, you'l be alright

those triples sound good on the howl

Honestly don't worry I went from a 125 (Hyosung cruise) that had the top speed and acceleration of a brick, straight to riding an XV950. Just take your time to get a feel for it and don't use all the throttle all the time.

Might not have purchased it frown
agreed the current owner would mot it, just checked on the mot site if it had passed and the following came back as a fail;

Front Brake caliper has no reserve travel and braking performance affected
Offside Front Shock absorber has a serious fluid leak fork stanchion
Rear Wheel bearing has slight play

just waiting for current owner to get in touch to see whats happening.

Nothing serious there, needs a bit of a fettle, new wheel bearings and a set of fork seals. If he' prepared to do the work, or reduce price accordingly, I wouldn't let it put you off.

Make a low ball offer to do the work yourself. Pick up a bargain. Job done.
