For looks alone I would buy it.

Actually the whole idea appeals a lot to me. Less weight, less power - more fun on the road?

Pity I will never get a chance to buy one.

Daytona 675, the best 600ish supersport, was taken off line due to low sales.
Who would by this Aprilia?

Nice. Probably far more expensive than sorting out the suspension on an SV, but it should be noticeably lighter.

Its a twin - so maybe mini twin racing eligable - otherwise your totally right that its a marvellous and desirable bike that no-one will bother to buy!!

That said maybe its just not a good Europe option - Much of the blurb seems to be about selling in Asia.

650cc limit for the supertwins at the TT.

It's why the mt07 cannot be used as a base 689cc.

I was looking at 675s in the classifieds last week so me for one.

But from my comment above “pity I won’t be able to buy one” I already recognised I was in the minority

Any idea what the price would be? if it was cheap enough I'd be all over it..

Would most folks buy a 600 without the trick gadgets on new 1k bikes?

The toys like the IMU etc would add up to a large percentage of the price of both, making the 600 comparatively expensive. Now the big bikes are a bit more manageable thanks to posh electronics I think most folks just skip to the end.

Squinting at the pictures, the pimpy suspension, huge amounts of carbon and so on, I'd guess about the same price as a Street Triple R? Hardly anyone will spend £9K+ on a 660 twin, however much of a road razor it is, so Aprilia will need to drop the spec quite a long way to price it to sell in sufficient numbers.

ABS is regulatory requirement
The LCD readout cannot be that expensive.
Does a small bike like this really need any other trick gadgets?
Of course everyone is now conditioned that everything has to have everything, look at phones for instance, so many functions and settings one does not understand, does not use and does not really care, but without them, oh my god, the phone is not "modern".
Same with bikes now, ABS, TC, LC, WC, SC. The new S1000RR has hill-hold assist and phone functionality built in....
It's all going overboard somehow, more power, more software....fascinating to watch

9k?? I’d have two if they were that much, I doubt the final bike will be that well species if it’s made, if it is the same spec then I’d expect 12k+

That's what I mean - could a modern sports bike (regardless of capacity) sell well without an IMU and all the trick items that go with it? The development and calibration of them add huge costs to building new bikes.

I'd buy one without, but would the general market? Or would they just buy an RSV4 instead?

I ride 2005 cbr600rr, no gadgets. only thing I want is a quickshifter and quick action throttle.

Would be happy to buy a new bike without any of the extras as the ones I would want I could add on myself.

Just to balance thing up, I wouldn’t buy without if the option to have it all is there. I’ve had my 16 R1 a while now and I love it with all its electronics. If that makes be a bad/lazy/poor rider then so be it.

I think this is less extreme than the 675. This appears to be an Italian take on the likes of the Ninja 650, cbr650f etc etc.

There seems to be a blossoming midrange twin market at the moment. Aprilia looks to be joining the party.

That's interesting. A local dealer has a 2006 CBR 600RR and I am quite tempted. How long have you had it? Good experience?

At 9k that would be a glorious replacement for my 999R as a trackbike, that looks stunning and if the core spec of decent suspension and basic electronics ie ABS & DTC and I'd be on that ..... don't want or need an RSV4 but this could be the ideal twin .....

Reminds me a bit of this:

http://www.paton.it/en/paton-s1-r-lightweight-re/

Which I would really love...except for the price. Well, actually the bigger problem is not being able to sell it on as I would imagine the market for such a bike secondhand doesn't really exist.

I've had it 3/4 years now, my first bike. done everything on it.. Euro trips and trackdays and its never skipped a beat. I could upgrade but I really don't see the need to, perfect for me.
