Aprilia RS 660

Wonder if they’ll make a Caponord (or Pegaso?) version to take on the Versys 650, Adventure 790 (soon to be 890?), NC750X, V-Strom 650 etc?
Or for those who can remember far enough back, something Moto 6.5 (which I always thought looked quite good!)?

Srob - belated congrats on the Bimota. I'm (sadly) in the process of having my DB2 refurbed, ready to sell - having owned it since 1998. I should add, however, that it has been under a dust sheet for twenty years...a side effect of marriage, mortgages, kids and comfier bikes...(damn that GS!). I now have an old Maserati which fulfils my needs for something lovely, impractical, Italian and expensive.
I will say though the Bim was special. Having been fortunate to have had a good spread of bikes, including 888, 916s and other Bimotas, the DB2 hit a sweet spot. Fast enough to be proper fun in the real world, wonderful handling, lovely details. Always a friendly conversation starter at bike meets too. I do miss that.
I have to say though, I'm in agreement with those who think modern superbikes - like their four wheeled cousins - are just too much, even on track. The fun of using all the revs and gears etc, as the man said.

I'd have to see the Tuono version in the flesh. The area circled looks too big, almost like the fairing has dropped down or tipped forward.
The RS660 is one of very few bikes that I've got excited about in recent years. But am I missing something - why would you buy the Tuono? If you want a naked bike (I don't) then surely you wouldn't buy the Tuono. If you want a "proper" fairing then you'd want an RS660. I suppose the £400 saving is worth having, but why else would you choose the Tuono?Normodog said:
I struggle to see why you would buy the tuono over a street triple at that price.
I find parallel twins a bit dull, although I haven't ridden one with a 270° crank. Maybe these are better.
I've ridden two or three Duke 790s, the 270 degree crank gives V-Twin like torque and sound characteristics. I find parallel twins a bit dull, although I haven't ridden one with a 270° crank. Maybe these are better.

As some were discussing the handlebar height and red football carrying capability. Seems that's from an official Aprilia piece of marketing literature:

Yeah I like that a lot, blue vs grellow would be a tricky choice. From a bit of snaffling about on the 'tube I see a few exhausts are cropping up too which give it a bit more tuneful sound. No V4 of course, but sounds decent.carinaman said:

Not run in, so not thrashed.
I can't really find much value in the Tuono version - it's only £400 (list for now of course) cheaper than the RS, yet it's missing both the proper IMU and the adjustable front forks from the RS. I always thought of the Tuono as a bar and fairing change of the "proper" sports bike.
Edit: And the QS/blipper, and being able to disable wheelie control with TCS, not really an issue for me as I'm way too crap to wheelie, but I'm sure some would find it an issue.
