Sorry another what bike.

After my tour in the US last month got me thinking for my second bike, I was thinking along the lines of MT09 naked. A bit of touring and odd trackday.

But I enjoyed the comfiness of the Street Glide and surprising wind protection it gave me.

Budget of 8k'ish

One issues I have with the Tracer and Tiger 800 that may be ideal is the height. While i'm tall I have had major ops and issues with my Hips and thus cannot get my leg over tall bikes.

So was thinking Hayabusa or ZZR1400/GTR1400. The K1600 GT looks nice but maybe not in my budget and maybe too touring that sports touring
Any others to look at and try while at the NEC bike show next week. So I can get a idea of a bike that is comfy

Cheers

Having just done the search for my K1300S replacement, I would suggest that, if you’re looking at a new bike, the top two contenders are the KTM SD 1290 GT and the Kawasaki H2 SX.

I have no experience of the Busa but there was a guy on our recent Parcmotor trip running one and he has toured all over on it also, he loved it and felt for the 2 or 3 trackdays a year he does, its ok for him.

Then a K1300S ticks the boxes.

I know it's traditional to recommend your own bike and also I've only had this bike a few weeks and I've only done about 800 miles on it and I haven't taken it on track yet but... you might want to take a look at a KTM 1190. It's definitely got the touring bit covered as you'd expect but the bit that I wanted and it's exceeded my expectations on is how much fun it it. It's got about 150bhp and it's great fun and doesn't feel at all big. Mine is a 2014 with 20k on it from a main dealer and it cost me £7500.

Not me as I've not been on track with it but it gives you an idea...

Naked mate, track and tour no probs, they are all good , mt10 is a good bet as it’s comfy and there’s loads of options for luggage, £8k will get you a immaculate one as well, out of all the nakeds it was probably the best of the bunch of ours for touring.
Wasn’t as good on track as tuono etc but still great fun

One specific recommendation I posted on my first post was not a Tall touring bike. Due to issues with hips. Is the KTM1190 a short bike? I've not sat on one before

Prob with that is as per my first post I enjoyed the wind protection and why i'm not looking at a naked.

That’s why I mean by bolt on stuff though, the touring screen and hand guards make a huge difference

Also have a go on a k1600 think you’d be v surprised how it handles and sounds, for a big bike it can certainly hustle

I don't think it's particularly tall but can't know if it'll cause you problems. It was a suggestion for you to try. Can you get on and off a bike via one of the foot pegs? If so that'll help with a larger number of bikes.

I’ve got a africa twin as well, but honestly I think for me a naked is about perfect for a all round bike, OK so you’re gonna get wetter than a tourer if it rains, but I’ve happily done some big miles in a day at decent speeds. Luggage fits on fine, they are light and fun in the twisties and you can take all the st of and you’ve got a half decent track day bike. I find nakeds more comfy than the africa twin on long journeys as well.
The problem I had with bikes like the k1300s and ZZR etc is they are great bikes but I tended to cruise at 130 everywhere and apparently the old bill don’t like that, also more of a lump when you’re abroad in the mountains and smaller roads
