Ladies, Gentleman, and the undecided... 2018 is nearly over, "if you're a racist or the owner of Fevertree tonic" or frankly just enjoy the st hitting the fan, then I'm sure you'll agree it's been a fabulous year.

And, if like me you've put your bikes away, once again you'll presumably also be forming new and expensive motorcycling related ways to avoid your family next year...

So, in the hopes of inspiring others, what are your 2019 bikey goals?

Mine are;

1) Get the old CBR600F MOT'd.
2) Get the old CBR on track (at least twice)
3) Get the Africa Twin to Europe
4) At least two highland trips
5) At least two big adventure bike style off road runs.

Stretch goals;

- Maybe Morocco
- Replace the CBR600F
- Do another off road course
- Don't fking crash

Over to you!

I failed in most of my 2018 goals, but 2019's might give away why:

1) Do/pass Mod2
2) Buy a bike, probably a naked.
3) Do a few thousand miles
4) Get some more training done

If I can manage that, I'll be a happy man. Stretch goal would be to sneak a weekend going somewhere nice to ride, e.g. NC500.

Definitely...
1. Pass the IAM course I started this year.
2. Do a shed load of miles on the KTM now I've found a day to day bike that works really well for me
3. Sell the blackbird
4. Get the fireblade and myself on some track days

Maybe...
1. Get a 250/400 off road bike and practice on that with a goal to doing some green laning with an aim on doing some longer trips the year after

Vaguely possibly...
1. Dig the kx500 out of the bush it's in and start restoration.

Use it!

Fix the wife's bike (it's an absolute bd to start if it's not been used for a while, think the fuel pump doesn't prime properly).

I've not really done much mileage the last couple of years due to being away a lot. However come July the work travelling stops, my wife, both our bikes and I will all be in the same country, and we'll only be a couple of hours from the German border, where the roads tend to be more interesting than here in the Netherlands.

I failed at 2018...in fact I think the only time I used the bike this year was as a "treat" for getting to/from work in the summer...and maybe to The Bike Shed...

The plan for 2019 is to replace the fuel pump and chop the old girl in for something more versatile.
I'm fancying a Husky 701 enduro with a view to doing a bit more commuting, green laning and maybe an actual enduro event or two.

I always said that if I was only to have the one bike, then it would have to be a sports bike but it really is proving to be wasted.
In a bid to make up for lost time, we'll end up heading to France/Germany or wherever and then wishing we had something a bit more comfortable.

Only one thing for me and that's get back on the pace on track next year after a fking embarrassing last couple of years on the new R1.

Last time out at Porto despite the dismal weather I went faster than I have ever done after. Couple of sessions all because of some fork extensions, new rear spring and a ride height adjuster.

Can't wait for it all to kick off next year.

Oh, peace and goodwill for all mankind too.

Get the Blades suspension done at Mick Gardeners. Lose a stone, best two upgrades that can be done I think.
Weeks trip to Highlands end of May before the bugs come out. Three weeks trip to Spain Portugal in September. Merry Christmas

Write a few thousand lines of code to machine away the step in the throttle bodies on the Triumph

Write a couple of thousand more to make a bellmouth for the top of the airbox

Put the lot together with some longer inlet trumpets and dyno it to discover it's made bugger all difference it's making vast amounts of extra power

Actually use the bloody thing as I spent too much of 2018 working!

Make the 999R pretty again and sell it for the most amount of money I can get out of someone for it.

Hopefully 2019 will be a race filled year again, but health issues in 2018 stopped it all sadly and very unexpectedly. So, 2019 will be:
1. Check medical side and hopefully be given the all clear to race
2. Find a new race bike
3. Send in as many race applications for the Irish roads as possible
4. Keep my fingers crossed that my health stays as I need to race

In no particular order:

CSS level 3, paid for but not confirmed date - Silverstone
Hopp Rider training 2nd April - Cadwell Park
Pass my advanced bike test
To then be able to do my new RSV4 justice
Trip to Europe
Trackdays
CB500 trackbike as I ponder the ThunderSport Classes and a bit of amateur racing? (2020)

Got my ACU licence in February so I’m planning on doing a few rounds in newcomers 600s next season. The goal is to not come last! A top 10 finish would make me happy.

Also do a couple of events on the WR250F I’ve just bought.

Ride the Tuono a bit more, did around 600 miles this year, I had just been using the ZX6R instead but now that is my race bike it might force me to use the ape some more.

I’m going to spend the whole winter praying to any god passing for another summer’s weather like 2018.
Then, hopefully, 2019 will be even more miles and more smiles!
