2019 bikey goals
Discussion
I was going to leave writing this. Been so stressed and under pressure at work not been able to get on here let alone ride much...
I think for 2019 I'd like to if I get the time;
1. Finish my road to track bike before March
2. Test it out and setup on track March time
3. Start working on the Maico 'Magnum' 440 1979 which my dad raced and have restored by year end
4. Do at least 10 track days this year to makeup my dismal 2018 track day season
5. Change my Tuono to a new 19 model without being too upside down due to the high mileage I've put on it
6. Go Nurburgring in April (Already booked)
7. Go IOM TT Race week (Already booked)
8. Get my boy out moto-x as much as possible and throw my leg over too

Relatively modest goals from me, mostly around moving house first...and giving up the large garage.
The new place with a smaller integral motorbike garage will hopefully allow the following:
1 - Pare down the numbers of bikes we have from 5 to 4 to actually allow time to get the remaining ones in a better state.
2 - NC30 - new front brakes, refurbished rear shock, new reg/rec.
3 - ZZR1100 - work out why it won't fire, fix it and ride it.
4 - SV1000 - fit quick shifter.
5 - 2 days at Cadwell with the BMW Owners Club (hopefully on the NC).
6 - Definitely not bring the numbers of bikes back up to 5 with a Ducati 749 or 999. In Yellow. Oh no.
Happy New Year all!

My top 10 for 2019 - in no particular order...
1) Get the big-bore kit for the '14 Chief - not allowed for sale in the EU, but I'll try to pick one up in the US...apart from the stty exchange rate
2) Get the '46 Chief properly registered (just waiting on on the V5 now), get it fully 'sorted', and work on getting it more 'period correct' than it is now
3) Master that foot clutch and hand change - had a couple of goes so far, and while I know exactly what I should do, it's still a bit tricky in practice
4) Change the head and base gaskets on the GPz1100 and stop the pesky oil leak
5) Sell the GPz!
6) Get get certified as an IAM National Observer
7) Accomplish 6) without purchasing corduroy trousers, a cardigan, a BMW or 'textiles'
8) Take the '14 Chief down to the Dolomites for the OG trip , plus a few other jaunts in the UK/Ireland
9) Take the '46 Chief to a few vintage runs/shows/rallies
10) Do a wee trip/tour on the '46 with at least one overnighter, just to prove it's possible to tour on a 70 year-old bike
First of the year - and certainly getting the hang of 3) and spent most of the Xmas break in the garage so 2) well underway too 1) Get the big-bore kit for the '14 Chief - not allowed for sale in the EU, but I'll try to pick one up in the US...apart from the stty exchange rate

Biggest target is to get back to Pendine in Sept and increase my speeds. Only had the Busa a few weeks before we went and only got 3 rides on it. Can't make May due work.
Couple more trackdays on the thunderace, and maybe the hill climb in Cork.
Use either of them a bit more than I got to this year.
Have to fix the thunderace first as she's sulking since the busa arrived... Choosing when to start. Only thing left is the cdi so hopefully the replacement will solve that.

1. First goal has been partially taken care of already thanks to my missus. California Superbike School at Cadwell is booked for July.
2. Give my 16 year old son a few lessons prior to him doing his CBT once he turns 17 in June.
3. Help my missus through her various bike tests (she already has her CBT and has been riding for 2 years) and on to a 'big bike'.
4. Get out and ride as much as possible as a biking family once numbers 2 has been achieved and number 3 is in progress.
5. Attend more BSB rounds this year than I managed last year.
6. Wear out more sets of tyres than I did last year.
7. Find an old project bike that all 3 of us can work on together.

Is it just an ACU sprint licence you need for Pendine?Gassing Station | Biker Banter | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
