I’m just in the process of going to see a couple of 991 T manual vehicles. Prices range from £75000 up to £90000. Are there any key options to go for as I’ve seen a reasonably priced vehicle that doesn’t have sport Chrono . Is this a must have option on a manual vehicle and would choosing a vehicle with the added weight of a sunroof reduce the driving dynamics of the car noticeably ?

Other options I’m considering are the bucket seats and RWS.

Many thanks

I’ve not got one, but do wonder at the logic of adding weight into what is meant to be a lightweight package, well relatively! For that reason I’d want no rear seats, no PDK and no sunroof. Otherwise your starting to move away from the whole point of the car surely?

I would say, manual, bucket seats, carrera T pack, no sunroof. The rear seats are handy for storage, I have the buckets and while they are not the most elegant to get in and out of, they give a fantastic driving position, compared to the position of my 18 way in the 991.2 GTS that I had.

The T pack is nice and makes it feel really premium. I like the alcantara multi function wheel a lot as well.

These cars are a surprise, the narrow body is great on small lanes, and for me it has enough power. Someone else said it reminded them of a 993 and I see that.

Also seem to recall that if you spec privacy glass you didn't get the thinner rear windscreen, which was a unique feature of the T vs other Carreras and supposedly let's more engine noise in

Surely the 'best' spec is personal - all the options have their pros and cons.

For me it would be PCCBs (for the unsprung weight saving and dynamic benefits), Sports seats for comfort and convenience, definitely no Sunroof, maybe RWS, Manual or PDK (depending on my intended use). And I would delete/remove the cheap looking stickers.

Optimal T is

No rear seats
No Sunroof
No Darkened glass
Manual
Buckets
PCCB’s

That’s the lightest car you can have (apart from PCM delete) and thus the closest to what the car is supposed to be. RWS is probably a yes because of the benefit to driving dynamics.

I went to view a few 911Ts this time last year as i wanted a Manual Porsche to complement my 991.2GT3 PDK..As it turned out there were none with my ideal T spec and i ended up buying a Carrera white 981 Spyder instead, which i love to bits incidentally.
My ideal T spec would be either GR,RY or GT Silver in Manual with LWBs,Carrera T interior,Light weight glass.PCCBs and a personal must have RAS..This is the lightest and most optimally performance spec you can have and what makes the T special.
Mind you i wouldn't swap my 981 Spyder for even my perfect spec T..Spyder is much lighter even than the lightest T, much better gearbox and lovely sounding NA engine plus top down motoring if you wish..But this is another story which has nothing to do with the OP's query..!

It depends if you're buying into the ethos of the T or buying what you need or want.
All the above advice is good, if you're straying too far from it, a "regular" 991 might be better?
If you need rear seats, chairs or folding buckets (rarer and delete the T interior) are needed.
I needed back seats on mine, PCCBs on a new car took the price beyond reason imo. Used wll get you much better value!!

Buy what you like for the way you are actually going to be using the car, not what you think may be desirable for the next owner.

I went for Racing Yellow and paid for the T interior pack - sports tex seats with yellow stiching. Added PCM and back seats back in. Kept light weight glass. Manual gears. Standard wheels and brakes. Smoker's pack to tidy up the centre console. Passenger footwell net for wife's magazines when we're on a long trip. Also paid for rear parking sensors, Bose, cruise control, automatic wipers.dimming mirrors, speed limit display, tracker subscription and upgraded headlights. Cost new £90k, now a year old with 8k miles and I already have some fab memories with the car to include a great trip to the Le Mans Classic.

I wouldn't change anything about what I chose, the only slight disappointment is the Bose but I knew from past experience it was never going to be great. Performance is more than adequate and the ride/handling compromise is excellent.

As an owner and regular road user of the car, I don't miss bucket seats / ceramic brakes / sports chrono / rear wheel steer - others may, which is fine!

Hi, I bought a T a year ago. Yellow, full T interior, manual, cruise control, heated seats. That's about it. I've driven and owned a lot of 911's of all types. I sold the T after 3k miles. It looked great from the outside, was a lovely interior to sit in, it felt 'special' , but it wasn't exciting. So it had to go. I prefered it to my 991.2 C2GTS tho. But not to my 991.1 C2GTS. I also have a 981 Spyder, as per the bloke above. This is the most fun and smile inducing and feel good Porsche on the road that I own. And I have Gt3s and Rs s and a GT2. If you're looking for a daily then the T will be lovely. If you re looking for a weekend car then the 981 . Never get a 911 with a sunroof; the bodyshell is noticeably less stiff and Porsche fit a less 'sporty' suspension set up cos the soggy bodyshell won't cope with the lower and harder T set up.

Surprised to read this. The press seem to almost universally praise the T. What is the T lacking (in excitement) compared to your 991.2 C2 GTS ?

I read it as he preferred it to the 2 GTS but not the 1 GTS - my guess on that one is the engine

I preferred the T to my 991.2 c2 GTS. It felt lighter, more agile, not far off as fast, looked better, was nicer inside, had more 'stance', felt more 'special', was better in the lanes, gave more feel, but the brakes weren't as strong.

I did NOT prefer the T to my 991.1 c2 GTS, which I still own, now passed 40,000 miles. The engine on my GTS is a corker , the engine on the T is not. The T was probably quicker in a straight line due to having low rev torque and power, but the T engine is dull and soulless and un-inspiring.

It’s the modern way...

Horses for courses. Compared to the 2.0 diesel in my Jag XF, the engine in the T is an absolute corker! laugh

Disagree on the 911 T engine being souless. Very similar in sound and character to the 997.1 C2S engine in many respects and sports exhaust note virtually identical.

As others have said a basic spec is crucial to the ethos of the car together with manual transmission and lightweight glass.

T pack is easily worth the extra £ and free rear seats can always be removed if you wish.

Remember some cars came without DAB so check this.

Great package, much greater than the sum of its parts and the last narrow bodied 911 adds to the appeal.

My other halfs mint 18 18 plate 1k mile manual Guards red with T pack (red stitching belts etc) Nav etc will be advertised for sale next week.

Don't know about the internals but it has a higher spoiler when deployed than the base 911 and I don't believe this was documented??

Spec'wise - mine has buckets, manual, light weight glass, multi-function steering wheel and T interior. While I love the buckets and I find them really comfortable, I don't think they're ideal for a daily driver just because getting in and out of them is an event!

The heated sports seats weren't documented either.

I'd want manual, PCCB, RWS, sports buckets, T interior pack, rear seat delete and lightweight glass.

Then a trip to Litchfield for their upgrade package. Would be nigh-on perfect at that stage.
