Looking for a modular helmet. Preferably built in sun visor, comfy and quiet.
Using some naff Nitro modular helmet currently which to be fair has served me well but its awfully loud.

A lot seem to like the Caberg duke 2 but I tried it on and it didnt feel much better than what I have already.
Considering my helmet is only a 3/5 SHARP rating would prefer something with 5

HJC is 17's can be had for that sort of money now, its hard to recommend for anyone to be honest, the best one under £150 is one that fits you properly, and only you can decide that.

And if you aren't wearing earplugs you really should be smile

I've had my IS-17 for a few years and it has been great..Just replaced with an IS-Max 2 Dova as I wanted a flip front, all good so far with this one too.

At that price I can vouch for the HJC as well.

I’ve got a Caberg Duke 2 and think it’s great. Though I think the shell is the same size regardless of your size, so can look big. But if you get the size wrong can be fixed with padding.

Also feels cheap and flimsy on the front flip, but a small price to pay. A really good hat and the reviews are correct.

I'm not sure Sharp rating is the best way to choose a helmet. I'm also possibly too old to know what a modular helmet is, but it might just be a flip front helmet ?

Get the helmet that fits the best - this is most important aspect. When you hit a tree or a curb your brain is going to carry on moving when your head stops so the helmet shell and poly filling need to slow the head down slowly to offer some cushioning to the brain and it can't do that if it's too big because then the helmet stops and the head carries on for a split second then hits the poly filling, not great. The head needs to be reasonably firmly pressed into the lining so it hits the poly interior very soon after impact.

Then get a good fastening - double D ring is better than the other kinds of chin strap as every time you put it on, you adjust it to be firm - it might be a hot day or a cold day and your face shrinks and expands with the temperature but the fixed chin straps don't. If the strap is loose the helmet can come off and then it's useless.

Then focus on quietness, ventilation, visor options etc - whatever you feel is more appropriate for you.

I think the LS2 helmets are in budget but I don't know much about them. I see lots of people wearing them though.

I have an LS2 Beaker, it has pinlock, internal dark visor and a good strap.
It's quite lightweight, however I do find it quite windy.
It's the only helmet I've had, so I can't compare it to any others.

I did my research for a while before settling for this one. It was based on the safety and the cost

I bought a cheap LS2 probe at the Stafford show in October...LOUDEST HELMET I'VE EVER USED!!!!

Were I looking at the OP's budget, I'd be looking at HJC, too. I've owned a few and they've been great.

If you've used a store to try on a lid you should buy it from there.

HJC definitely seem to to be be the obvious choice within that price range. Lovely looking lids and filled with special features. My only gripe with them is the anti-fog side of things, both me and my son have bother struggled with them, not sure if that's just us though.

Why? There is no fine print saying if you try on our clothes you must buy from us.
Do you buy the first car/bike you test drive at the dealer?
Do you buy the first insurance quote that comes up?
Do you buy the first flight ticket you find?

No? Then STFU.

They look good but build quality is inferior to Caberg imo and their tinted visor is such a gimmick and flimsy

Hows the wind noise compared to other helmets you've had?

Touched a nerve? The examples you give are completely different.

Trying something on in a store and/or getting their advice and then buying the exact thing elsewhere to save a few quid is the act of a tosser.

Anyhow, I'm out giving any help to you.
