Amy advice on brands for things like helmets I like the look of AGV but that's based on nothing other than aesthetics
I strongly urge you go for fit rather than brand of helmet, try them on in a shop and make sure you wear it for 10 minutes or so to make sure it's comfortable. You can look at https://sharp.dft.gov.uk/ for an idea of relative safety and get a starting point for what you are looking for.I've recently had great service from the local branch of https://www.infinitymotorcycles.com/ if there's one local to you they'll have a great range of helmets in store for you to try out; I went in looking at the lower end of AGV or an HJC and walked out with an Arai RX-7 on 0% because the fit is perfect for me.

Haha. I've just done the same. Just last week changed my Lid and convinced myself a Scorpion Exo 510 Air would suffice(and it does seem like a damn good lid at an excellent price), but walked out with a Shoei NXR.I've recently had great service from the local branch of https://www.infinitymotorcycles.com/ if there's one local to you they'll have a great range of helmets in store for you to try out; I went in looking at the lower end of AGV or an HJC and walked out with an Arai RX-7 on 0% because the fit is perfect for me.
Good advice on physically trying different brands of helmets, as they all fit in a slightly different way. An XL helmet in an AGV does not fit me in the same way as an XL in a Shoei, for example.
I'd go to a bike shop, try on as many different brands as you can, then buy one based on safety rating/comfort/your price band.
Personally, I wouldn't have a helmet not meeting Gold ACU standard either.

Cheers all I'll look our for a GOLD standard how much would you expect to pay for that?
I don't know off the top of my head. Not particularly expensive. I would think they start around £80?As I said, have a look on the online stores (J&S, Sportsbikeshop etc) and check out the specs, then go and try some in your budget range.
The "sharp" test 1-5 (5 being the best) is the current benchmark for helmet safety. It wasn't around when I was riding bikes last! !
The more you pay, the better it will be (to a point). More expensive helmets tend to be lighter, quieter, safer, have more features etc.
All helmets must meet a minimum safety test, and that’s fairly high. The more you spend gets you more comfort and better features generally, safety is going to pretty good across the board - provided it fits you properly. A very well fitted £100 helmet will be safer than a £700 “bargain” that’s 3 sizes too big

Thanks mate will take a lookI think this is looking like the front runner 5 star rated and I like the look of it. My local shop has a poor collection and wouldn't entertain the idea of matching the price. My only reservation is the helmet seems quite old the only reviews I can see are from 2016 is that an issue or normal?

Good shout on the VFR750.
I'm off to browse ebay.
I commute on a '97 VFR750 (last of the carbs), great bike for commuting. Don't be put off by higher mileage, buy on condition and how well it has been serviced / maintained. Original exhausts are getting a bit rotten these days and beware dash lights or any of instruments not working as that is likely a corroded PCB in the dash and difficult to replace these days.I'm off to browse ebay.
Broken bodywork is getting harder to find second hand panels these days.
Also, rectifiers are a common failure / weak point but plenty of pattern replacements these days.
Engine is bomb proof, I used to worry about valve clearance checks, now I just don't bother, they are never out.
Great bike, 100-ish bhp plenty quick enough without being scary at all, Road 5's are a great tyre choice for all year round usage on these bikes.

I seen that but not heard of Motocard are they genuine? LOVE my old VFR750...
Oddly, Mrs Vince has a CBR600 as well. Of the two I can tell you the height is similar but the VFR feels longer and less agile through the bends, the CBR is a lot more chuckable. VFR is much better built though. In terms of speed the VFR has it on the straight but not by much. The CBR is quicker everywhere else.
CBR for comparison...
