Been out on the OHs CBR today, done around 120 miles, ive been riding for a decade or three + and am lucky enough to have a few different bikes to ride but if it came down to it, this is all I need.
Despite all the fancy DDC and electronics on my S1000R, the suspension isnt as good as the CBR, the CBR is also far more stable and trustworthy with none of the flightiness at high speed, its light, nimble and fun.
Cheap-er biking doesnt come much better IMHO
Nice love the colour scheme of your wife’s bike I almost had one those exact colours but turned out it’d been written off when I hpi checked it. Now tell me more about the S1000R the RR is high up on the shopping list once I have a couple of years experience under my belt.
I had a CBR600f (92 model) as my first bike after passing my test. Lovely, easy and quite forgiving to ride. Quick, but like all bikes, only if you ride it that way.
I thought it was a great first bike. Probably the most sensible amongst the similar bikes.
I went on to Fireblades and then S1000rr. No complaints here. But I'd give it a year or two on a 600 first. S1000rr is a great bike, but brutally fast.
Honda 600s are a reasonable choice in my opinion

Yeah I was thinking similar, maybe give it another year or so. I’m yet to jump off the CBR and think it’s lacking speed it still frightens the bee Jesus out of me above 7k rpm I thought it was a great first bike. Probably the most sensible amongst the similar bikes.

I still have my first bike 20 years on. It’s a 1985 Kawasaki GPZ600R, and it had 70 odd bhp 35 years ago.
It’s still good fun and still feels pretty good when you wind it up a bit!
All the bikes since have been 1000cc+ but it’s still fun to get the old GPZ howling.

What's the story?
My local Honda dealer sold it to a guy in 2002 (52plate) that he bought for his 50th birthday with the intention of taking his bike test so he could ride it. For some reason, that never happened so it sat inside his house for 16 years when he asked the dealer to sell it for him because at 66 yrs of age he felt he couldn’t ride it if he had passed his test, that’s how I came across it.It’s brand new condition.
