Question about exploiting sportsbike performance
Discussion
I reckon the bikers that use the dual carriageway in earshot of our estate are extracting all the performance from their litre bikes, late at night. It really does sound like they are qualifying for a MotoGP race. In top gear the engine note is still rising so they must be easily doing over 170mph.

I have also got a 75 bhp single that weighs about 140 kgs. If i ride that to it's full potential, there are precious few points during a ride where it feels like it is too slow. The brakes are fabulous, the handling ditto and if you ride the thing right, even 600 sports bikes make no clear road behind them, the KTM sticks to them more often than not with ease.
I don't think it's a case of what we need or can use to the fullest. I like having my 190 bhp bike for the grunt in any gear, the ferocious acceleration now and again where i can do it and the sheer lunacy, i suppose of that sort of power and one wheel drive.
You sound amazing and probably an even better rider. It’s nice to see some humility on here I don't think it's a case of what we need or can use to the fullest. AS it happens i was a half-decent bike racer and whilst not in the same league as the professionals have put down some good UK track times on the stripped back and tuned GSXR600 track bike i ran for a few years.
Cheer up ffs.
Oh and you read the meaning of the post totally wrongly anyway. You're not the brightest clearly.
Lindun. 1,246 posts in 6 months? OMG. That's all we need to know! Get out more often ffs and cut back on the keyboard warrior work. Take a look at my garage and see what i would not be riding if i sat on here all day everyday like you. Oh dear...you poor thing. :-)
I now feel your pain chum.

Monday if I don't do a last min track day from a cancellation? Toxicnerve knows a cracking route from Ongar to finch. I know a good bit into burnham initially. If you can let him or I know... Its a good laugh
Can’t do tomorrow unfortunately, I’ve been out for a good blast on the bike today though so not all bad!, do you go most weekends?, know a few other guys who might be up for a run somewhere else too.Walter Sobchak said:

Yes most Sundays and a night in the week, typically Tuesday or Wednesday on a bike nightyonex said:
Where was he boasting, looks like you just want to pick a fight over nothing tbh.
In bold. Race times have been logged for all eternity in the internet for many years now, so it would be good to see this backed up with some hard evidence. It’s rare to see a racer bang on about the bhp his road bikes are putting outGrindle said:
You need to cheer up pal and get a better attitude. I bet you're the sort who moans about anything and everything. I happen to be an optimist in life and live every day to the full. No apologies if that doesn't sit well with your character. But strangely, it won't cost me any sleep.

Have you read Richard Rhodes books on the atomic and hydrogen bombs?

So, is the issue he might be faster than you, or that you're just a miserable sod?AS it happens i was a half-decent bike racer and whilst not in the same league as the professionals have put down some good UK track times on the stripped back and tuned GSXR600 track bike i ran for a few years.

The point he was making IIRC was that you don't need 200HP go fast on the road and that most are just full of crap?

I don’t know if he’s faster than me or not, nor do I actually care. There are many, many riders who are faster than me. At no point have I mentioned that, you’ve just made it up. The point he was making IIRC was that you don't need 200HP go fast on the road and that most are just full of crap?
I’ve also avoided rising to the targeted personal insults that you’ve just built on.
To coin one of his phrases, I think that speaks volumes about the pair of you.
My point is that, all he has done is bang on about how it’s not possible to exploit a sportsbike on the road, followed by some outlandish claims around the bhp of his bikes and then a reference to past glories which it’s difficult not to read as an ego trip. Of course, you can choose to ignore that and instead make some stuff up about me / pretend he didn’t do that.
For info, I went for a ride a today, some of it was on very empty roads. The bike got maxed out in a couple of gears at least several times and for some fairly long stints. Is that something we get to do a lot? No. That’s the simple answer to the original question that he asked. However, he’d know the answer if he’d raced bikes.
Lindun, you fool, had you had a better education you would have realised that my post wasn't actually about how quick or otherwise i am, but was about a single cylinder road bike often being effectively as quick as bigger and more powerful machinery on the roads due to it's impressive power output, it's very light weight and it's amazing brakes.
Killjoys like you who have a negative and critical attitude ruin forums like this one, so like i said you seriously need to get out more often, as your ridiculous posts per day average prove.
Until you are able to grasp the true meaning of a post STFU and get yourself a decent bike.

The only person digging is you. You’re the one boasting about maxing your bike out, and racing, do you think you’re the only one who has, you aren’t Marquez, just a privateer in a transit van so give over I’ve also avoided rising to the targeted personal insults that you’ve just built on.

A smaller lesser powered bike can be ridden far harder, and most road riders wouldn’t want for the extra power. I test rode an S1000rr last year and the dealer hasn’t removed the running in rev limit. Two others had taken it out before me and not noticed, sums it up really. The dealer just laughed, one of the guys stuck a deposit down, he’ll have the shock of his life.
So, it’s not possible to extend a 200HP for very long, it’s not possible to ride them hard and push the limits. Which you’d know, if you are such a super tight racing king
Think you both said that, so stop being so fking miserable.

Your insults are getting tedious now. Show some evidence to back up your claims of your background as a “half decent bike racer”, who “put down some good UK track times”Killjoys like you who have a negative and critical attitude ruin forums like this one, so like i said you seriously need to get out more often, as your ridiculous posts per day average prove.

What do you consider a decent bike?
