Ive asked Carole Nash to swap my insurance from my 700 to a brand new super cub and...'Youll have to wait for 72hrs till we can contact our 'specialists' to see if its possible'

Im going from a bike with two wheels and a engine to a bike with two wheels and a smaller engine, why the hell is that so difficult?

Don’t be surprised if your current company won’t cover it and you have to cancel your policy and take out a new one

...and if you have 6 months or less remaining you probably will not get a refund, plus they will want to charge an admin fee

Never ask an insurance company to make a change, ask them how much it will cost you to make the change...

Cancel insurance.
If they say they will levy an admin fee say you wont pay and will take it up with ombudsman.
They will fold, refund (IME)
Get new insurance.

Sucks, but Insurance companies make it difficult so make it awkward for them

I've never had motorcycle insurance but every car insurance company I've been through to change a vehicle were quite happy (They were fleecing me for £50 every sodding time but there you go). Currently with Quote Me Happy who let you do it online instantly. Couldn't ask for better than that!

Sort of done it. They would only cancel at midnight and start a fresh policy the day after so thats what ive done ( also avoided the cancel fees but i have lost 16wks no claims). It just means two trips to the dealer and two train rides ( one day to drop the px off and the next to pick new bike up) instead of an easy drop old bike pick new up with in the hr like i usually do.

The car industry sometimes offers 7 days free insurance on a newly purchased car.

I wonder if bike dealers can do the same thing?

Do the dealers offer it or do the insurance companies offer it to the dealers because they know from their statistics that a percentage will accept their quote for annual cover?
I doubt motorbike sales has the volume to support it.

Leroy, if you don't mind saying how much more is it? +50 +100

Presumably the 125 has a higher crash, theft, claim, etc risk profile, which is reflected in the premium?
