Love my GS. Best bike I’ve had. Now on my 3rd. Pegs down on the GS, big lean on a tall bike always a thrill. Not fussed by those who ride faster in a straight line, the fun is in the bends!

I'm with you there. I was talking to a hayabusa owner some years back, his favourite road was a nearby stretch of dual carriageway. I'm more of the opinion that if I can do 70+ I'm on the wrong road.
Different people like different aspects of biking. Up until this thread though I generally found bikers liked chatting about bikes rather than slagging each other off like on other PH sub forums. frown

I have a Triumph 800 XRX, before that, I had an ER6. I can tell you my thoughts.

  • My ER6 hurt my knees due to the high-ish pegs - (my knees are are a little knackered, thus were painful after more than an hour or so on the bike)
  • .. it also had little wind protection.
I bought the triumph because I wanted a triumph and I also thought the knee angle was a little more gentle. What I loved was the combination of the super comfy riding position and better wind protection, plus also the amazing noise from the triple.

not all good news of course:

  • Its a big heavy bike.
  • triumph gave me a scrambler while mine was in for a service. That was much more nimble than my tiger, and I also loved the torqueyness of the Twin - that said, it was a bit cramped and the wind blast was pretty significant.
Summary: are adventure bikes boring?, probably - mine is a little, but as an all round bike, I love it. I can imagine that a GS or KTM with a massive twin would be amazing.

If I can only have one bike, I'd still keep my tiger. If I was allowed to have more than one bike, I'd probably have something smaller for Sunday blasts, as well as my tiger for longer trips.

Hope that helps.
