The brakes are all crap, and it’s a heavy old thing.....

Love these T300s though...

I make cafe racers out of them...this one weighed in at 189kg wet ... and the brakes certainly work now!

That’s bloody beautiful.

You still need to find some original indicators, and I just hate those end-cans...

Looks fab, I agree about the indicators needing to be changed but it's your bike to do as you wish, bet it sounds a lot better now.

Ive got the original indicators from a previous daytona, been hanging up in the garage for almost 20 years! - so may refit those to see how it looks - The old exhausts were like canons - massive bloody things, I much prefer the new ones but suppose its just down to personal taste. Garage confirmed that the bike has been seriously lowered but done properly so advises leaving it as it is. Handling is really good - none of the top heavyness I remember but it does make the riding position very cramped as it also has a lowered seat - may change the seat just to get a few cm of room back! but loving the handling for old bike. Brakes are seriously crap though! (even after a clean up and servicing) - I fancy keeping this though for my old age!

Fantastic, was it sitting too low as you'd mentioned before?

yep, its been professionally lowered to the point of it not being worth the hassle to put it back! Good points - handling is brilliant! and it feels really rooted to the ground. bad points - at 5,11 i'm not that tall but riding position is very cramped - worse than my fireblade but Ive lowered the pegs and may replace the lowered seat - that should give me a bit more room. Or i could go back to yoga so i can bend my knees better to fit it!

Ah cool , as you say that handling is brilliant as it is then yeah why change it.
And you are right, lower pegs and replacing the seat or getting it re padded by an upholstery specialist (A cheaper job than you might think) would make a world of difference comfort wise

all the best with it

Nice job, enjoy it... I jumped in similar to you a few years ago, wasn't as successful / lucky... but still love it... mine was solid mechanically, but fairings ere a mess, went a custom route over restoring, but on the look out for another original clean one... lot of bike for the money, and from an era...

That looks schweet… nice build...!!! I don't have your skills, so I went the CRK route with a 1996 Daytona, I've literally just finished it, yesterday, its taken me ages, just over 2 years but it was a full strip down and in between starting it and finishing it yesterday, I've had a knee op on a meniscus tear, a broken foot and a broken wrist from dirt riding, and had my garage fully rebuilt so I guess I could of done it over a winter/6 months without distraction...

How long would a build like that take you?

And can I ask what front end is on it? and any deeper details in how you went about sorting the correct stem etc. would be much appreciated...
