As far as “glamour girls” goes. I think we’ve all moved on from that these days...right?
Plenty of options in Birmingham city centre if that’s your thing
Just saying

What are they, I live nearby and am unaware anything comparable
Does taking employment opportunities away from women please you ?

I went to the show yesterday, came away with mixed feelings.
My 2 Penneth:
- Seemed to be a lot more bikes, and space allocated to the manufacturers bike stands, they just didn't feel as cramped, even on a busy Sunday.
- those of you who enjoy going for free pens/stickers etc. will be grossly disappointed.
- "Glamour girls" none existent
- Seemed to be a lot loss accessories/exhaust sellers there
Plenty of the promo girls there today for those that like that sort of thing. My 2 Penneth:

Suddenly I think he has a point !
I know a few glamour girls and I'm the father of 3 girls and if they wish to be glamour girls that's absolutely fine with me - it's all about having the right to choose, I have no idea why people think it's progress to restrict choice.

To be honest I feel abused and taken advantage of every day, I am totally oblivious of my arse crack hanging out the back of my work jeans on a daily basis.
Apparently it is not pretty but most female clients feel the need to point it out on a regular basis more men than women if im honest . I think I need to start charging my date rate at a higher premium now its been brought to light .

It's just that most companies have decided that promo girls don't provide a decent return on investment for their business, or don't promote the company in a way that they wish it to be perceived.
I had a great day at NEC yesterday. Not just looking at shiny things, which were lovely and shiny. The best part, for me, is the number of conversations you can have with with interesting, knowledge and enthusiastic people from the companies. From chatting to the technical director at Triumph to one of the mobile service guys from CCM, from the people at Shoei and Arai explaining and trying on their products to the engineers at Ariel with their amazing skills to produce the Ace and the atom.
Happy days, as Henry Cole would say.

Well been looking forward to this even for months. I seen about 1 hall and bought a few bits I wanted before my mate fitted and 3 hours later after he was sorted went home. Seems I will be going back on the weekend with the wife. Main thing is mate is ok now. Was dehydration which surprised everyone as we all drank the same. but as he's 25 years older than the rest of us not uncommon at the NEC after eating food and waling around a warm hall. The paramedic informed us who was a top chap.

I must have missed the Ariel stand, despite keeping an eye out for it. Happy days, as Henry Cole would say.

Glad to hear your friend is ok. Its a shame places like the NEC don't make water bottle refills available, there must be lots of people who get dehydrated rather than pay £1.90 for a bottle of coke.
And it's absolutely baking in here as well. Considering it's a 15 minute walk from the car park in November weather, everyone is now lumbered with their coats etc!Looks great though, just arrived and never been. Haven't been to the NEC since the 1997 motor show

There is a cloakroom at the entrance leave it there.Looks great though, just arrived and never been. Haven't been to the NEC since the 1997 motor show
Went yesterday.
Was quite warm in the halls, but not overly busy. A lot of tat marked 'down' to prices higher than online. Fair selection of shiny bikes. CCMs looked cool. F900s looked plastic. Shame Triumph could not have debuted the new 900 Tigers.
Cornish pasty was nice and the BMW stand had the best 'glamour'.
7/10.

I quite liked the look of the F900XR. The new Street Triple looked great too, but is flipping expensive. Was quite warm in the halls, but not overly busy. Most disappointing looking machine for me was the new Kawasaki Z1000 with the supercharger.

If you do want a test ride there's 51 bikes to choose from and only 8 go out at a time so there's a good chance you'll have the bike of your choice.
Advice is to que up at around 11.30am as the test rides desk opens at 12pm. I reckon there's around 32 places and you will que for around 1 hour. You get about 25 mins on the bike and it takes around 1 hour altogether with getting kit on and going through a lot of safety ste. So allow 2 hours out of the day...
Thanks - went today and followed your advice which was spot on.Advice is to que up at around 11.30am as the test rides desk opens at 12pm. Tested a 690 SMC R as I was thinking of buying one (admittedly used)
On my group I was the only one who thought like this, the others all went for something completely different and I think they made the right descision.
I'll add that you only get to ride around 6 miles or so, I'd hoped for a bit more, although with the slippery roads and only being 3rd Party it was perhaps a good thing.

What time did you go out? We might have been in the same group! I was there at 2:10.Tested a 690 SMC R as I was thinking of buying one (admittedly used)

I tried a 790 Adventure as I write fancy both a KTM and something comfy, couldn't have been more disappointed with it... Everything except the engine/box is lovely, but the engine is a boring af parallel twin with no character and a terrible noise, and the gearbox was so might it had no feel at all.
Had a great day out though, with going to idle and sit on lots of bikes. Sadly I now know that I don't want an MV Brutale, the tank has a weird lump right where the inside of my knees sit, if I was taller or shorter it wouldn't matter.
Really like the new Himalayans and Moto Guzzi's too, for the money they look absolutely tremendous. Needed a sick bag for the Kwak stand as expected, bloody hideous! I also really want a Ducati V2.

2 guys next to me took out a pair of honda gold wings just for the crack. Both came back seriously impressed and the one that rode in front of me was banking it right over in the bends.
I'll be taking out the Indian chief next year ....
