Curious why that John Bloor fellow doesnt have a knighthood for the amazing job he has done with triumph.
Even a knob like alan amstrad sugar has one of those for his various rubbish ideas like an email telephone.
Couldn't agree more.

I dont know what their strategy is really. Selling the commando twin thing looked like good sense and various norton branded stuff.
The V4 thing looked like a bridge too far in the current climate. The small affordable twins seem a good idea but a cheap bike costs nearly as much too make as an expensive one so they would probably sell at a loss.
I would think the more they sold of them the worse off they would be.

He's got an OBE...

The Norton stand at the NEC seems very down beat compared to the last few years. The same stuff was there but there didn’t appear to be any buzz. The two atlas 650 bikes were there but cordoned off again a trio of v4s . I can’t pin it down exactly but it didn’t feel quite right...

Why does he keep getting fobbed off? https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/norton-v4.65...

Why has he waited 3 years and not just got his deposit back? I'd love to know, too.

Because funnily enough he actually wanted the bike.
They just kept saying, (he had to chase them btw) production will start xyz and it never has.
He did actually ask for his deposit back 3 months ago and still waiting, keep saying the next monthly payment run. Time to get the CC company involved me thinks

I found this extract hilarious:

article said:
The move marks a very interesting transition for Zongshen and should help to increase credibility for Chinese motorcycles – which have had a chequered history with a perception by the wider motorcycling community for not being that inspiring
Perhaps it's just me but I don't think that would be the first reason on most peoples' lips, do you?

It seemed strange that at Motorcycle Live there was nothing on the Norton stand promoting the share offer - you'd have though a hall full of motorcycle enthusiasts would have been prime fodder for the campaign.

There's a reason the word Chinesium was invented.

Weird people that can put a rover on the moon but cant design an engine. Maybe the experts are actually thin on the ground in china...
Still waiting for them to put out styling knock offs of 60s and 70s japanese bikes with modern engine and running gear.
Japanese seem to have an aversion to doing this themselves and just do half baked rubbish.

Reading between the lines here.

I have looked at a few jobs at Norton, never get anywhere, and the most recent advert proved why, they just want minimum wage kids to build the things.

Fair enough, keep the costs down but you might not be getting the experience and improvements you would otherwise get from perhaps fewer people with more experience. Not sure what the deal is at Triumph, I always get no responses form them, too old and not local probably.

The reason is the budget set by the Western customer. The Chinese put the West to shame in terms of engineering R&D. You set a budget and you'll get what you pay for... quelle surprise.

But what they do get is a nice chunk of money from the Government in the form of apprenticeship training grants.

A chinese deal I like. Like the saudis they should spend big to try and whitewash their horrible inhuman behaviour. and they get zero in the way of technology or secrets as its just a nostalgia operation.
