Your biking highlight of 2019
Discussion
So with the end of the year closing fast what has been your biking highlights in 2019
Getting your licence?
first track day?
Euro track day?
Mine was just going out when I wanted mid week and enjoying the quieter roads.
Last year would have been better as I did my US west tour and the TT. This year had been mega busy closing down my business and going to bigger and better things. Thus resulting in being able to ride more in the week for pleasure

I've done a few things this year, but it was the simplest I enjoyed the most.
When it was very hot, rode afterwork on a Friday to a couple of local pubs and roads I'm familiar with. The combination of cool air and warm roads after a really hot day and riding as the sun was setting reminded me why I enjoy it so much.
The bugs reminded me what a ball ache it is to have to clean leather and jeans...

Getting my licence, buying a bike, and doing 4000 miles on it this year. It's been bloody fantastic, I'm itching for next year now too.

It probably should have been riding on track st Almeria with my other half and her Dad.
Spending most of the time visiting her in hospital put pay to that!
So it'll have to be riding 125s around the Highlands on a tour with two of my mates for a week in August
How is she btw? All sorted now? Sounded like a really nasty one.Spending most of the time visiting her in hospital put pay to that!

On the mend, thanks for asking. She isn't fully healed yet but should be in another couple of months and is itching to get back on track (pun intended). She is planning on getting trackdays in early in the year to make sure she can push come first race of the season. Her mum isn't happy that it hasn't put her off
First trip that comes to mind was the end of a week of being laid low with a "humdinger of a virus" (GP's description), no way I was going back to work still feeling a bit groggy on a Friday.... no, far too ill for that. However a run out on the bike was just the tonic!
Anyway pootling around on quiet midweek roads, after a chat with a retired guy on a similar bike I realised just how little I need to make me happy. Roll on retirement!

2019 highlight?
Riding a bike in Texas this May with an ungodly 1,015 bhp. Owned by a guy with a 2,500 acre ranch he rides mad-bhp Quads around. His custom quads have upwards of 800 bhp but the bike in question was just pure insanity on 2 wheels. Ten litres of big block Chevvy, starting out as a Boss Hoss 502 in 2004. The (lack of) handling and brakes made finishing any ride still breathing an achievement of sorts.
But the sheer stomach-churning, neck muscle-destroying acceleration of that thing should have come with a health warning. 20 mph to 150 mph in one gear in 8 seconds. 2 speed automatic. It was addictive, even though it felt like someone had simply bolted a seat and pegs onto a wheeled rocket.

That sounds awesome!! Any photos or videos we can see of it? Riding a bike in Texas this May with an ungodly 1,015 bhp. Owned by a guy with a 2,500 acre ranch he rides mad-bhp Quads around. Must be utterly useless in real terms but I bet it will be a hard experience to beat!
Two highlights this year. Getting my new Kawasaki H2 SX SE in March, then riding it to The Dolomites for a week there with the Old Gits.
