I was a tt and tried to show the examiner how fking good I was by keeping it really tight. Luckily it didn't back fire and I passed 1st time.

Head up and look where your going.

My FO8 layout was so tightly set out I had to bunny hop my DT175 to get it round !

Interesting, thanks guys.

I did loads of figure 8s on my recent CBT training. The trainer asked us to try and do it much tighter to the cones. He did a demo riding no more than a couple of feet around each cone, made it look really easy. I tried to do the same, my bike stalled instantly stopping the rear wheel (was an old Honda XR125L). Came really close to dropping the thing. Closest I got cleanly was about 2 yards or so constant radius, is that close enough?

Trail bikes won't turn as tight as road bikes (in this situation)

An update folks. Nailed it today. No minors. Chuffed. Reading the 'one lucky rider' thread though opens your eyes. I consider myself a good driver, class one police driver etc but as a new biker that frightens the life out of me!!!

Good stuff

I failed both my mod 1 and 2 in 2010 on the first attempt. In fking Scotland too so was weeks before I got to try it again.

Failed mod 1 as I wasn't going fast enough!

Mod 2 as I wasn't using rear brake enough. Something that pissed me off a bit as I reckon my tutor should have been picking that up in my lessons.

Definitely, I would've been brassed off about that.

Congrats OP smile

Good job. I managed mine first time but only after having to have a second crack at the swerve test due to speed. Another guy I was with was on his 8th attempt! He was a nervous wreck pacing up and down the waiting room, think he ended up making everyone else more nervous too.

Well done mate. Mod 2 is just a sensible ride with 'lots' of observations and life savers - enjoy!

At the Medway test centre I was told to keep the figure of 8 inbetween the two stripes that join the patches of tarmac. I was also told not to go behind the last yellow cone so assume they have a maximum radius there.

Cheers. Test was fine, all that stressing for nothing, even manage to pass with no minors. Crazy how fast the test is. I think I spent more time in the waiting room than on the test pad.

I passed both mod1 an 2 first time, I think the 1 can be a bit more nerve wrecking because it's a staged environment and there can be people watching from the sidelines waiting to do their test etc

Just practice loads of bike control and hopefully you will nail it!

So an update to this one. I got through my MOD 1 and have passed MOD 2 today. Battled wind and snow and got a couple of minors but I'm chuffed.

Depends on what experience you’ve already got. I found MOD1 very easy as that’s solely about bike control.
MOD2 was harder IMO, like a normal car test.
