Interesting, thanks guys.
I did loads of figure 8s on my recent CBT training. The trainer asked us to try and do it much tighter to the cones. He did a demo riding no more than a couple of feet around each cone, made it look really easy. I tried to do the same, my bike stalled instantly stopping the rear wheel (was an old Honda XR125L). Came really close to dropping the thing. Closest I got cleanly was about 2 yards or so constant radius, is that close enough?

Trail bikes won't turn as tight as road bikes (in this situation)I did loads of figure 8s on my recent CBT training. The trainer asked us to try and do it much tighter to the cones. Good stuff
I failed both my mod 1 and 2 in 2010 on the first attempt. In fking Scotland too so was weeks before I got to try it again.
Failed mod 1 as I wasn't going fast enough!
Mod 2 as I wasn't using rear brake enough. Something that pissed me off a bit as I reckon my tutor should have been picking that up in my lessons.

An update folks. Nailed it today. No minors. Chuffed. Reading the 'one lucky rider' thread though opens your eyes. I consider myself a good driver, class one police driver etc but as a new biker that frightens the life out of me!!!
Good job. I managed mine first time but only after having to have a second crack at the swerve test due to speed. Another guy I was with was on his 8th attempt! He was a nervous wreck pacing up and down the waiting room, think he ended up making everyone else more nervous too. Rockape said:

Well done mate. Mod 2 is just a sensible ride with 'lots' of observations and life savers - enjoy!Gassing Station | Biker Banter | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
