I've had my new ADV 350 for about a week and am just relaxing into ownership. It has it's good points and it's bad points compared to my last scoot which was a BMW C Evo

Whip the plastic exhaust cover off and give the exhaust a nice coating of extra heat proof paint.

I think Honda used water colour paint.

My lad has an ADV350 (same colour) what heat proof paint do you recommend?

I've recently arrived in Brisbane to live and the apartment we are renting only has one car park, so does the apt we have bought (move in early Aug).

Soooo, wifes co car gets the space and I started looking at scooters (Australias speeding fines are massive so a bike was out of the question).

I am now the (relatively) proud owner of an Aprilia 300 SportCity complete with an Akra pipe.
2012, 18000km, a bargain at 3200AUD incl rego, TP insurance, etc

After 6 months of use on my little Peugeot for work (Of which it was brilliant albeit a bit slow) I see a bargain come up and decide to have a punt

Suzuki UX125 unused since 2014 and incredibly low mileage however a non runner from sitting for a long time and a bit of water damage

Purchased for a mighty £250 and spent maybe £100 getting everything really nice inc LED lights, USB phone charger, quadlock, pads, filters, oils, antifreeze etc

Still need to fix dash (Fuel gauge broken) but otherwise its a good'un. Got it running, serviced it right through, mot'd which is sailed through and now using as my daily commute. Sold the Peugeot for what it owes me within £6 quid so worked out cheap motoring for 6 months.

The 125 goes really well for a commute easily showing a GPS 60+ mph. Not kept it open long enough to see if it would do much more but wouldnt be surprised with a good wind if 70 wasn't achievable

What a bargain! How on earth do people find such lovely things for so little money? Everything I see sub-£500 has literally been in the sea and ruined.

I have a 2021 125 E5 Piaggio Medley but on the hunt for something with a bit more pep.

I actually got the train for 1hr20 to go and look at (with the intention of buying) a Kawasaki J300.

I was with the seller for maybe 2 minutes at most, as soon as I sat on it I knew it was no bueno as my knees hit the handlebars well before reaching full lock... no good... shame.

For reference I'm 6ft4.

Maybe i need to stick with an upright and go look at a Piaggio Beverly or similar.

Thanks, the problem with all these adventure type scoots that are bursting onto the scene now is just how damn big they are.


At 895mm wide its a bit if a brute. Shirley too big and cumbersome for filtering etc? Although I appreciate with size comes comfort...

Theres a dealer about half an hour away with both a Beverly and a C400X in stock that might be worth a look-see

Well... ive just become the proud owner of a BMW C400X

Picked it up today.

3 trains (into London, tube, train out of London) and a 2 hour ride home on mix of country lanes, fast A roads, a decent motorway blat and then motorway standstill/dual carriageway, followed by a bit of town riding.

The extra grunt is real nice. It rides really well, filters easily and is very nimble considering its a mid size 200kg fatty.

Suspension is really nice as its had a front and rear upgrade. The forks are excellent. Weirdly it feels more agile than my 125 Piaggio.

Off the mark its quicker than it really has right to be. Came across a new CB500 Hornet and did a bit if traffic light racing on a stretch of dual carriageway. First time really caught him off guard as he disappeared backwards. Second time he really went for it but was only just a car length ahead at 60mph. Engine sounded like it was being worked hard though!

The thing about scooters is theyre just so effortless.

I think that I see that one a lot at the queens head pub in maldon. There's normally a massive group of them down there having a laugh, watched someone with them struggle to reverse a tuk tuk thing there a few weeks ago.

This is my 1968 150 Super. It was an import from Pakistan. Although it did run, every component was worn out or bodged. The frame was rust free, but I still had to do a bit of welding because it had had loads of screw holes drilled into it. I say drilled, some of the holes were definitely done by a master craftsman with the careful use of a hammer and screwdriver.

It’s now a 180cc, with the usual porting and crank work.

I'm trying to decide between two completely different scooters. One is a T5 with a 210 Malossi engine, or a new Royal Alloy. Totally different beasts.
