What bike is most tempting you?

Prices seem to be sky high atm for all mx bikes. 1500 used to buy you a half decent bike but it's tricky now. Best bike for learning quickly is a 250f, best for learning the craft properly is a 125. If you know your way round a 4 stroke get a 250f and give it a good refresh, otherwise a 125 and do the same. 250 2 strokes and 450s are just stupid quick, I ended up having both then going back to a 125 and I weigh way too much
Yeah I assumed a 4 stroke would be less maintenance but it seems that's not the case with MX bikes, a 2t 125 would probably be a good starting point for me and would annoy less neighbours if we ever get the opportunity to ride on farmland/quarries etc (with permission obviously) I wonder if lockdown has encouraged more people to take up new hobbies and MX is one of them? Certainly bicycles are impossible to find in stock anywhere and even old scrappers with flat tyres dragged out of the shed are selling on Facebook straight away.

Chaps 1991 cbr 600? Good idea?
Depends on price and condition. That's the first year of the F2, which was a ground breaking model. I had one and it took a lot of abuse and did amazing backfires off the killswitch. Which you wouldn't want to do nowadays! Anyway, they were a very good bike back in the day.rodericb said:

Ducati Hypermotard! Never ridden one, but looks like awesome fun! (current 675R rider)
Check out the Aprilia Dorsoduro too, I ended up with one in 750 flavour when I needed an SM due to a dodgy knee, it's the Duke's cheaper Italian cousin, but sounds and rides just as good with plenty of character! I was going to come on here to say Kawasaki z900Rs Cafe in the grey paint, but now I want one of these and it seems there's some real nearly new bargains out there. What's the catch?!

Who knows. The throttle can be quite snatchy... but I think it’s worth the cost of a remap. They’re also lightly sprung so heavier riders might not be enjoying them as much as they expected. If you can tolerate the green there’s a few on eBay. Not mine btw. There’s also quite a few low mileage Thruxtons. Maybe it’s the style of bike that attracts serial swappers.

Both nice. Why is is heart vs head.... both have each?
My head tells me that i'll have a heart attack when I have to push the Pani - after I fitted an upgraded battery earth cable.
- I actually like it, but I understand I’m in the minority.

I want a Royal Enfield Himalayan.
To go with my penchant for crap cars, it seems like I also have a thing for crap bikes. Any experience in here of them?
In dreamland I desperately want a Benelli Tornado in Silver and Green, preferably with a less crap looking exhaust
I went for a test ride on a Himalayan a while back with a view to running one as a winter hack, mainly because it was cheap used. It was actually OK as a package. The fit and finish was a bit sketchy in places but overall it was....just OK. the thing that stopped me buying it was the complete lack of performance. Anything approaching motorway speeds worked the engine a bit too hard for my liking. It was fine if you don't mind pottering around at sub 60mph but not really powerful enough for anything over that. it did sound quite nice though. To go with my penchant for crap cars, it seems like I also have a thing for crap bikes. I ended up actually buying a Honda Transalp 650, instead. Older but better performance.
