So the Vinales 'thing' marches on.
It turns out that Maveric decided he knows better than the engineers, and didnt use the launch control, in Le Mans..
For those of you that dont know, when engaged, it basically sets the RPM at the ideal revs for the bike set up, for a perfect launch, and all the guy has to do is hold the throttle between 3/4 and full (some just have it set at full ) and dump the clutch. The revs are regulated by the ECU to keep the bike from whellying , stalling and whatever. Its nothing special, my 4 year old MX bike has it.
So Maveric practices all weekend , mastering hid 'technique' and then gets to the grid , and fluffs it becasue he couldnt hear his own bike over the noise of the others... which is the precise reason why the thing was developed in the first place.
Talk about rookie error. in 1978 we used to Tippex a white line on the grip and throttle housing to set the revs...

They said that on BT Sport, not the wisest decision to have made and you might have thought somebody would have pointed this out to him. Unless he isn't sharing his ideas or thoughts with anyone, which his not a good place to be. Also, if you've ballsed up like that, I might have suggested he kept it to himself. Seems to be having his usual good practice and qualifying: Sunday is a different matter especially if he doesn't make it first to turn one. Aragon is an odd circuit - half of it suits the Yamahas nicely but they get monstered down the back straight. Wonder if a high-power Rossi engine makes its way into Morbidelli's chassis for the race...I expect to see Dovi and Miller in the fight for the podium or win this weekend too.
Rash and uninformed Friday prediction:
1. Quatararo
2. Dovi
3. Mir
The time spread of the field is huge compared to normal, they are all struggling with track temperature, and the lack of feel that gives.
This affects the Ducati guys more than anyone else.
It looks to me like Rabat is where he normally is relative to the leader, and lots of guys are just way off, and end up slower than he is.

That sounds about right to me, unfortunately that's all GP20's and Zarco is only marginally quicker in 11th on combined times. Yams look to be half a second ahead of everyone else, Honda's going well.... which is an odd thing to say considering the highest is 5th and there's an Aprilia and KTM in the top 10 but noooo, it's the three Honda's that stand out; such is 2020. This affects the Ducati guys more than anyone else.

Vinales is really good with a clear track and a focus on a single fast laptime
Come sunday, he'll go backwards like hes lost 4th, 5th and 6th gear and will only come good on his pace three laps form the end when it's all too late.
I cant wait for Hodgy's pre race peice this week, he will slaughter him,Come sunday, he'll go backwards like hes lost 4th, 5th and 6th gear and will only come good on his pace three laps form the end when it's all too late.
And rightly so.

Sessions all delayed to later times for rest of the weekend, Ducati must have been really stomping their feet in the safety commission....
I dont blame them, rider safety has to come before any convenient time table, this early start stuff when daylight hours are short is a real issue. When you see guys sitting out sessions, its the thing to do.
Unless you are learning something, its a waste of fuel.
I have been out in those sparrow's fart sessions, and all you do is try not to fall off.
I think with so many races still left, they should shunt it all at least an hour and let the TV sort it out.
