Well if he's happy I'm happy, shame a decent Moto2 offer hasn't been made. Petronas are going to have one hell of a Moto3 team next year, surely the title beckons?
Their bikes are consistently down on speed in a straight line compared to the Leopard Honda's and the KTM. It's only a few kph but in Moto3 tiny margins count. The team need to sort this.Honestly feel this is a better move for Petronas than John. They get a guy that will win races and get their bike on the telly a lot. Unless John wins the title I'm not sure how it helps him compared to what the paddock know about him. Supposedly Forward Racing were looking to take him to Moto2.
I believe that having a 'works' bike in the factory team has actually been a disadvantage at times: they insist that the 'factory knows best' and insist that their settings are the correct ones. When Rossi and others told them to 'sod off' and used their own (based on feel and experience) they moved forward! The satellite teams have it easier as they don't have the constant 'factory knows' best interference.
Cal's bike is a works bike just without the works effing stuff up. Cal also tries his heart out, every ride but I fear he 'over-rides' the bike without the talent of MM to make that attitude work.
John McPhee, he does ride hard and well but sometimes just gets beaten up by the other 'axe-murderers' a bit too much. You'd think coming from the land of haggis he'd be used to a good punch up
Also, didn't a Honda rider win the world championship in 2006 without ever winning a race?

On balance you'd say probably the right call providing he has a solid season next year as people soon get forgotten/ditched when they move up and are pootling around at the back on poor machinery making up the numbers, but must be so frustrating for John with the promises that were made previously.

He's got that "Spanish Begbie" look about him.
Probably why he crosses his fingers all the time; trying to keep a lid on it.
He's more like the Spanish Wealdstone Raider, this is a recreation of daddy Marquez talking to Alberto Puig when he was told Alex was being dropped to LCR - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAhEFuq62-IProbably why he crosses his fingers all the time; trying to keep a lid on it.

Hayden won two races that year.Emilio Alzamora is the only world champion I can think to have won a title without winning a race, 125cc in 1999. On a Honda.
