So then? What’s our chances do we think? Anybody else planning on going? I’ve flown over from Manchester every time I’ve been, planning on going over on the bike next time though.

Guessing they might insist on vaccine passports and compulsory testing - given independent nation and likely demand, people will be ok with this.

You'll have to be quick or lucky to get the bike over next year. Most will have rolled 2021 over as we did.

I went out for a walk this evening with my wife in the country. She wore her ‘TT Blue Woman’s Jacket thing’ that hasn’t seen the light of day since it was purchased at the TT in 2019. I suggested she was only wearing this to upset me as we are only 2 months away from TT time. She replied in the affirmative.

Two TT’s (plus the Classic missed). Will it be on next year. Too early to speculate in my opinion.

A big shout out to the Steam Packet Company, as they have made our ‘many’ ferry reservations easy to roll on until the following year.

It depends on so much, so much unknown, that at present, i would say it is very unlikely.
The vaccine roll out is in its early days and by that i mean we've at best had one or two jabs each yet, no one knows how long they will last and that will be an issue for the IOM. Especially as about a third the visitors for the TT are from further afield than the UK, and vacination there is a ststorm.

We may feel that by Jun 2022 we will have more people jabbed than now, but not necessarily more people protected by jabs, if the ones we have had now have worn off by then.

I reckon, until there is a few years data on the lifespan of jabs, TT wont be happening. IOM has jumped down hard on any outbreak so far and kept total cases in the hundreds and deaths around 30! I cannot see them risking importing a few thousand cases from all over Europe .
Of course, TT2022 could happen if they can make it viable without visitors from accross. But would the economics pan out? Unlikely unless some TV company stump up serious cash out the blue.

Although you make some very sensible points, I can't help but feel you work for the Daily Express. At the rate you're going your next post will be "TT postponed until 2032!"tongue out

Don't agree with what Paul says, we are getting through the vaccination rollout at a very good pace and the borders are quite likely to be opened in some form before the Autumn.

It's possible that a proof of vaccination may be required and with that in place the Government have previously said that they see no reason why they wouldn't run it.

They'll have to show that they can have infections on the IOM and not go into lockdown immediately, as they've been doing up to now. Vaccinations and lots of visitors, TT related or not, will mean the infection becomes common in the community. IOM Govt have not been comfortable with that idea up to now, until they change their view, the TT wont be happening.

I’m still waiting to get over there so I can get to my holiday home. Bike hopefully still waiting in the garage. As above, it’s a lovely place to visit all year round, bit like Cornwall, but without the Londoners. I adore it.

Officially, the borders open in Sept, which assuming they get vaccinated, seems believable. I’ve also been going there for almost 30 years.

I remember one year (2016 maybe?) when first day of school hols, the French had industrial action at Calais and families were kipping in cars on the M20. The family and i were walking along the beach at Port St Mary, there were only three other people on it, it was gin clear skies and 28 degrees! We had a great week over there!

Slightly related, my wife has been asked to apply for a job on the Island, still based at home in Liverpool, fly over a couple of days a week.
Included are access all areas free passes for the TT.
Naturally I have encouraged her to GET THE BLOODY JOB.

Still can’t believe there is no TT for 2 consecutive years. Really annoyedfurious with myself for not making the effort to go more often over the years.

Looks like it’s opening up from 1st July for unrestricted travel so Manx could have run. I’ll be glad to be over there again for summer holidays.
