Of all the current riders who do you think could make a decent job of riding the honda bar Marquez ?

Is it a case of promoting a moto3 rider so he gets on the honda with no big bike experience to compare to the honda ?
Early days but Pedro Acosta is probably going to be on the shopping list already for the big teams.

Binder or Miller perhaps?

Needs to be someone who can grab the bull by the horns. Very few that can do it like MM I reckon.

They have both been spoken about, but Miller has a factory ride now, it's his to lose. Binder, not sure. The KTM has lost ground and his first job is to beat his team mate.

Moto2 has some really talented guys.

Trouble is moto2 is a big bike wouldn't it be better to get them from moto3 with zero big bike experience to compare the honda to ?

I don't think so. Moto2 with the 765 is much closer than the 600, although it's still huge step up. Moto3 is a completely different style. It's like a different sport?

Agree. Only guy that has come straight from Moto3 with any success (or ever?) is Miller as it happens.

I'd like to see what Toprak Razgatlıoğlu could do on a MotoGP bike. He might have the right stuff judging by how he rides a Superbike.

Does anyone else feel this might be Rossi's last year ?

Looking more of a likely than a possibly. Just said to my Mrs we need tickets to Silverstone this year as Mugello will be no spectators.

Yams & Suzuki’s looking like they’ve got a great set up before Qualy.

Good to see Aleish putting some good times in as well.

I think MM will suffer from fatigue this weekend, even if he puts a blinding result over 1 lap.

All classes are shaping up for some fantastic racing again though.

You would have to say so, I guess it will depend on the end result. He’s still a commercial draw for Yamaha but if he’s not getting the odd podium and the headlines are largely about him at the back, surely he’ll quit?

Yep I think so, he just doesn’t have the speed anymore. Doesn’t even look like he might make top 6 these days.

MM is 15/8 to win, even the bookies think he is back
The bookies are idiots.

6th in qualifying a good showing, but lasting 45 minutes in one hit tomorrow......

If he does well nobody can dismiss it with talk of the bike etc though.

Two things

Firstly Honda and their bike, it is clear only one man can ride it, even remotely quick enough to win races, Cal used to be able to do it, but the last few designs excluded even him from getting on with it.

So it needs root and branch redesign a bit like Ducati did after Stoner, and look at how it took them, and this is all after Marquez packs in, which could be 10 years away. While he is able to ride his way it will not change I reckon.

Secondly Vale, it is clear this a bike issue not him, he is not happy, he clearly has an issue with the machine as he hasn't lost all this time suddenly, the others can get on with it, people say size, height etc, whatever it is not working for him, where it used to. If they let him do stuff do it, it can work, but their focus is now solely Mav and Fab, not him.

So I expect if things dont get better a year end retirement, or before, as he cant be enjoying this.

Yep, Bagnaia loses pole. Front row is now Quartararo, Rins & Zarco. Bagnaia 11th.

Agreed with your points on VR...such a shame to see. but the haters are loving it, calling him done etc....

IM not sooo sure, but its not pretty.

If yuo watch him on the bike vs the young guns, I do start to feel his style hasnt come on as much as the youngsters....Look at Bagnaii for instance.....

Marc ? Not sure if he will be able to keep fiull speed for the whole race based on watching him in the QP.....

Mav could well drop his chin again after 3 laps cancelled during QP.

They ALL are really, really, right on the utter edge in Quali now, its actualy quite scary....

I can’t be the only one thinking that last season's rule change, regarding cancelled laps when riding through waved yellows, is, at some point, going to be exploited by the pole sitter, on the last qualifying lap.
Look what happened today, not that I think it was deliberate, but in Moto2 the pole sitter slides off on the last qualifying lap, anyone behind, going through the yellows, has their lap cancelled. Today those behind weren't going to get pole anyway but that may not always be the case.

It doesn’t take much imagination to see how this could used to someone's advantage!

Did cross my mind too.

Moto3, there's going to be an awful lot of long laps dished out.

Watched some of FP1, skipped FP2 FP3, watched the qualifying .
Totally fed up with the MM93 fest. It was MM this, MM that, you'd think he was the only rider at Portimao this weekend.
