Looks like a great project, not too bad at all! Does it run alright?
Its been sat unused for a few years, and due to the state of the tank I am going to wait until the new one is fitted and a full service is completed before trying to start it Krikkit said:
Have you considered a tank liner instead? Quite cheap and relatively straight-forward.
I had considered it, but thought I would try and get a good tank as it would probably be a better long term solution. I might try and derust the old one and sell it on to claw some money back.Lovely ! Had a similar blue one back in 2000. Did about 75k+ miles on it. Only annoyances were the regulator/rectifiers went, the original at 30k miles and a Jaws one which was supposed to solve the problem which also blew after exactly 30k miles. Both times of course on a foreign holiday. Anyways, best of luck with her !

Adding a computer CPU fan to the top of the reg/rec, wired into an ignition switched feed (make sure it's a 12v not a 5v fan!!!) can help reduce failures.A lot of bike for £1000. Will certainly be a change of pace from the Enfield!
Had one in the mid-2000s. Did a trackday at Brands, my highest top speed on the road and a euro-tour involving snow on the Furka pass and trying to ride to London from Munich in one day (didn't happen as too much traffic and I was too tired from having been at the Oktoberfest).
Great bike.

This was the bike with the best name. Super Blackbird XX.
Typical honda. Suzuki and Kawasaki quickly made faster bikes but Honda kept their heads and continued to make a bike you would enjoy riding
and owning rather than blathering about and clocking half the mileage.

They are still great bikes that can be used every day and for every (on road) purpose. On the road they will still be quicker than most other bikes while still being comfortable and fun.
