Fettling with my friends RD80 yesterday. Stunning little bike.

Its been sat around 9 months with Super Unleaded. I did the same carb clean on it last Winter and it ran like a champ afterwards with just a soak in carb cleaner and a blow thru with an air line.

This year not so lucky, idle jet totally blocked so easier and fool proof to replace the jet and a soak in the ultrasonic cleaner coming up.

I know this is a bike thread/forum section but, are we all happy to just gloss over the fact there’s a Senna MP4/8 in the background?

Are you able to provide any info on the car, Brian?
I am slightly embarrassed to say that my eye was first drawn to the lovely transition between the block paved floor and the resin painted concrete, but then happened to notice the MP4 in the background - wow!
I cant say much about the car ( as I dont know anything about F1) apart from it was amazing to see , his business is focused around race car/classic car transportation and storage.

I just love the look of these. They look a premium product. I’m amazed at the build quality of my 125R.

Is the riding position similar to the 125? I assume still being cable the throttle response is quite nice too?!

Looking at your username I assume a Honda IL4 was the only choice!
This feels better put together and more solid than the 125, and they are a nice 125!

Riding position is similar but as its larger the bars are further away and you are slightly leaned forward. I find it more comfortable as on the 125 I found I was a little bit too upright. I have no comfort issues after doing over 300 miles in the first day and a half!

Throttle is indeed cable, response is nice. My 125 was quite snatchy in the first bit of travel from closed throttle, this is much smoother.

I loved my S2000! Had it for over 10 years but after it met an untimely end the bike bug bit harder as I was missing the rev engine and driver involvement!

Thanks for that. Last question. I promise! Would you say the engine feels special? I imagine at 11k it does. I missed the boat on a K20.

No problem!

I'd say it does, more eventful than the SV650 i learnt on, torquey enough low down and pulls all the way to rev limit.

I had heard from reviews about a bit of a flat spot around 6k rpm, and you do notice it start pulling harder after you go through it, I quite like it though as it reminds me of vtec in the S2000 biggrin

Got an alpinestars missile jacket off Facebook marketplace yesterday. It was under half price and hardly worn but a 170 mile round trip away in Peterborough. Perfect excuse for the first long trip of the year.

I pay £35 / wheel in Birmingham

But bear in mind you also have to remove wheel bearings etc so it adds up

I have a friendly powder coater that we use a lot through work so got them at mates rates, but I think normally it would be about £200 including tyre fitting

Had a bit of a break in the weather so me and a mate headed out for a bit of a bimble about this afternoon, roads were damp in places and a lot of gravel about so bikes are filthy now but it was nice to get out for a bit!

Nice - reminded me of a picture of a rideout with a mate in 2009 when both of these were a bit newer! biggrin

Had a load of fun riding the new BMW F900R Cup bike at Almeria on Friday. I'm a relative track novice, but it had me laughing and I daresay I was faster in corners than on the S1000RRs I spent most of the day riding. Helps that it sounds ridiculous – both in volume and general naughtiness as you go up and down the box. Can't wait to see 38 or so of these filling grids in the BSB support races.

I was there friday too with username kate in the morning. I left at lunch time and she crashed in the afternoon

I see ol' John (LCR) also there so had a quick chat

New bike day. Actually it belongs to my OH, but I was the one riding it from collection today.

Should cut down the amount of time spent queueing in traffic....
