Talk to me about Superdukes

The LC8 engines are dry-sumped, so overfilling isn't going to be so much of an issue.
Thanks - as with everything like this I've been super vigilant of anything untoward and noticed the pressure light takes a while to go out now and its a noisy engine until warm. Probably all normal and I'm not too bothered as I have 2 years warranty which is part of the reason I bought a new(ish) one.I think I'm a V twin man and everything makes sense about it so far, I'm a lot happier with it than a new (ish) Triumph I had previously which was a disappointment at every turn.
Rutter rides one round the TT https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IhXEtMDTMN4
So I've pretty much decided to buy one - question is Gen 2 or Gen 3.
A 4/5 year old Gen 2 is around £10k, I can currently get a brand new gen 3 with Tech pack for £13,999.
Budget isnt really a factor, and the Gen 3 probably looks the better deal with a warranty etc, however;
- I prefer the looks of the Gen 2 a bit (trellis subframe especially)
- Pretty sure the Gen 2 will sound better (Euro 4 vs 5)
- Gen 2 riding position is more supermoto than the sportier position on the Gen 3, for my riding that may work better (no track work, generally for road hoonage)
Any thoughts? Quite a few reviews say the Gen 3 is a much better bike due to it being more like a Tuono in riding position and handling.
But is a 2 year dealer warranty a wise move with these bikes?

I've got a Gen3 (2020) not ridden a Gen2 so cannot offer a direct comparison.A 4/5 year old Gen 2 is around £10k, I can currently get a brand new gen 3 with Tech pack for £13,999.

However the Gen3 is the first to get a rear suspension linkage so in theory should handle a lot better than previous generations. You can adjust the bars to a slightly more relaxed SM riding position if that's your thing. I moved mine back after a full day on the bike and about 100 motorway miles. Tech pack is a must, so I would assume that this would be a must on a Gen2 (although the pack names are possibly different on earlier versions).
I've put an AR can on mine and it's sounds pretty good to be honest, you could always buy the full AR system or Akra system if you want unrestricted noise, but you will need the map loading (dealer only) and have to a) replace indicators with LED items b) fit the "magic box" to delay the indicators.

I've not ridden a Gen 2 but the Gen 3 forward pitched bars worried me in concept. In actual riding it isn't an issue from a comfort POV. I think you need a forward position to counter the acceleration that's available. As you go more upright the natural reaction is to be thrown back which I've found uncomfortable on more upright bikes in the past.
I've heard that one of the big changes handling wise from Gen 2 to 3 is more weight over the front which improves feel and confidence. I've found the 3 an easy bike to ride with good feel.
I think you could get a pre reg or low miles ex demo for £13.5k with the tech pack.

Never ridden one, should be a laugh :-)
Congrats, happy new bike day.£13,999 all in, including Tech pack

I'll go as far to say that my Gen3 is the best road bike I've ever owned, it literally is smiles for miles which for me is exactly what riding a bike is about.
Now get yourself some mods, rad guard (EvoTech), tail tidy (EvoTech), can/exhaust, heated grips, bar end mirrors, and once you get used to the power change the gearing and then add some throttle spacers to get rid of the slack, which makes it even more lively.

Belting that, have they given you a date to pick it up?
It's only a small thing, but I love the exhaust on the current gen, the way they've just chucked a straight pipe under the engine looks great to me.
Its all a little complicated due to xmas and the fact I'm in a tiny rental at the moment with everything in storage - no idea where my leathers are, old bike is in storage, though I'm not part exchanging it as another dealer wants to buy it outright from me at a decent price. It's only a small thing, but I love the exhaust on the current gen, the way they've just chucked a straight pipe under the engine looks great to me.
I think around 6th January or the following week is likely. Around the same time we complete on our house purchase and get our stuff back!!
As I said I've never ridden one, nearest would be either my Diavel or Speed Triple, I know I'll love it though :-)

Cheers - Evotech and Power Parts websites have been on my screen all morning, lots to buy :-)I'll go as far to say that my Gen3 is the best road bike I've ever owned, it literally is smiles for miles which for me is exactly what riding a bike is about.

You'll love it ! Takes a while to get used to but even the heavier GT I have is explosive, the torque and the noise is very addictive.£13,999 all in, including Tech pack

I fitted a DNA air filter to mine which made a noticeable difference to the volume of the noise from the air box. You need to remove the tank to change the air filter so possibly a job fo the 600 mile first service.
Does anyone have a link for a rear wheel socket? 60mm 6 sided.
Laser do one but at £70 it feels a bit steep. I can find links to resellers of the same tool on ebay but they are all showing out of stock.
I'd prefer a 1/2" drive impact as I can gun it off but I've got some f-off big 3/4 bars so could do that too.
On a related note do people have 250Nm capable torque wrenches or just do it up FT?

I got a Laser one from eBay for £40, and the internal boss makes it fit really well. The nut is quite shallow and a regular socket is quite likely to slip off and cause damage, so I'd hold out for a cheap(er) Laser one if you can.Laser do one but at £70 it feels a bit steep. Also 250nm is really f'ing tight, I was really surprised. I'd get a torque wrench if I were you, as I think there's a good chance of under-torquing it if you guess it.
