Really doesn’t look and feel like the start of an exciting new season to me.

Feels way to much like the circus has come to town.

I have to agree with Matt Oxley, I invariably do.

If FP2 on Friday is balls to the wall qualifying for last 15mins, then Q1 and Q2, is followed by a sprint race it’s a full on 2 days with even less time to set up increasingly complex bikes. Also, as sprints are by nature short sharp manic races, qualifying is even more important as aero makes passing harder, so FP2 Q sessions riders will be pushing even harder.

Sunday is a much more relaxed day now, if you make it that far in one piece.

We’ll see if the sprint races bring back the audiences and more people to the track on Saturday’s, it wouldn’t make me go Saturday to the British GP as well as Sunday, but let’s see.

Overall it was great to see MotoGP bikes going hammer and tongs again, Peco’s save in the last turn was a proper impressive sight and seeing Marquez able to wring the neck of the Honda again is awesome. Well done Miller, but a top 10 dominated by Ducati’s outlines a major storyline for the season ahead.

Pretty much any crash at Portimao is going to hurt, but that looked nasty.

Oddly, it reminded me of Troy Corser's incident at Sugo many years ago.

The regularity with which they throw their bikes up the road is amazing, it's easily fixed though, deduct championship points for every crash, including practice and qually, limit teams to 5 sets of bodywork, if you use more its a grid penalty..
The new format does seem a bit too much, can't help feeling that, what with the aero add ons and the dirty air, Motogp is going in the wrong direction..

I always try to watch as much as I can. Race is always the most important. With 2 young kids I have to pick my battles.

Dorna are trying to improve their viewing figures, I’m not sure the sprint races will help a whole pile. Most people that will watch are already watching. It’s all about Dorna an viewing figures, sponsors aren’t getting a whole pile more out of it. The riders and teams certainly aren’t. Squeeze squeeze squeeze.

Is it a way to ensure Ducati don’t walk this year’s championship ?

All for new, exciting and intuitive formulas yet the one thing the riders want with something as simple as the gravel they can’t get.

Having said that I’m looking forward to season getting underway.

I suspect Dorna have been under pressure from circuits to boost attendance on Saturdays too, but if I feel like it's squeezing too much out of me, how the paddock feels I can only wonder; too much of a good thing?

That said, as much as I thought I would stop watching quali, I'm looking forward to it starting. smile

Kind of agree but there's always crashes, they're premier sports people at the top of their game it's just what happens. Also Pol is a crasher.

Very close I know but anyone else surprised to see both Mir and Rins faster than Marc yesterday?

I wonder if Marc is somewhat reserving himself, I suppose why risk injuring yourself again on a bike that's not fit to win.

Cooler but no wind like yesterday, they might go quicker.

Hang on is P3 today not counting to qualifying for the qualifying sessions, this is just the replacement of the useless old P4 session before qualifying.
