Say what you like about the place but it provides epic racing, that was on the best Moto2 races I have ever seen, Emmett was getting hysterical a bit early but last few laps were great.

WTF Manu, looked like something fell off,, but you celebrated a lap early son!! and fair play to Salac, well deserved and a great filip for Czhech racing, bet he gets a heroes welcome, last guy was Karel I think!!

Great race. Gonzalez not giving his moto GP hopes any good. It might be crap to spectate at but silverstone provides great races.

Did he celebrate too early, or did he put his hand up because his bike was failing? Pretty stupid if the former.

There you go 105k, a little bit more than last year attendance.

Rainey Schwantz etc were 30+ years ago. The 20 somethings going then are in their 50s now and most won t have been near a bike in decades. Those in their 30s or older then are all retired now and probably doing completely different things and have a very different hobbies.Anyone under 30 wasn t born then, so it means nothing.

The world has changed massively in those 30 years. People who were going to raves and popping E in the 90s aren t still relevant to the dance scene nowadays.
There's no dance scene these days. Your lucky if the biggest town near to you has a night club. Fark knows what kids do these days.. pouting on tik tok or playing Xbox.

As for baggers load of bks
Motorbikes aren't as popular as they were 30 years ago. Back when they were the cheap working mans transport, and the man riding his 500cc 4 stroke to work could connect with the racers on their 500cc 2 stroke race bikes. Now motorbikes are more expensive and less practical than a cheap car, so the only people to ride are enthusiasts. Average man on the street has nowhere near the connection to motorbike racing as they used to.

Just as the average man on the street has less of a connection to MotoGP, the average punter on a Saturday night has less of a connection to rave culture, but the scene still exists for those who want to go and find it. From large venues to small venues, to festivals, it's all there and in many ways healthier than ever.

What is true and similar about both dance music and MotoGP is that those people who were part of it 30 years ago and haven't moved forward are no longer relevant. Both still exist and are full of exciting young faces with fresh ideas, you've just got to move with it.

One of the best pieces of advice is to never stop listening to new music. The same can be said of MotoGP - don't wish for a time in the past because it no longer exists, and enjoying what is there today is better than the alternative of not having it at all!

I haven t been to Silverstone since 2019 and if I were to attend another Moto GP, it would be an overseas event. Contrast this to Donington in the late 80 s and early 90 s with the 500 s. They would often get crowds of 120k plus and it was superb.

I agree with you regarding the Isle of Man, although I ve noticed (I didn t go this year) in recent years the open air concert venue close to the port has been closed.

The weather and delays at last year s TT wore me down, do I didn t attend this year. However, we re all booked for next year such is the draw of the TT. I just wish more BSB riders would start their TT apprenticeship.
Donington never got anywhere near those figures, not even during peak Rossi.

That wasn’t great in terms of racing. Great result for Fernandez, big whoopsie for Ogura. Marc is still nowhere near being fit. I’m still not convinced he’ll run the next few years as his injuries are definitely catching up with him. He seems much more reticent at the fast tracks. Be interesting to see how he goes at Aragon, as that’s fast and a track where he’s normally very good. The title race maths are the most interesting part currently, which I’m not sure makes it that exciting.

I think the bigger crowds at Donny were about 70 to 80k and that was probably the peak Rossi period in mid 00s and the peak Rainey Schwantz erz, people forget how amazingly popular Kevin was here.

Boring race, but warm I think but fair play to the winners, that Priller is easily the class of the field at the moment

I think they claimed nearly 90,000 one year (on the Sunday, not the 3 day figures Silverstone likes to quote), probably the year it took us 6 hours to get out of the circuit afterwards! 2004 or so.

The Rossi effect was huge in the UK, I don't really know why, but it was, and you had decent Brits up there too plus some good rivalries.

I think Silverstoine has been fairly consistent, dropped a fair bit since covid, but when you read here and elsewhere, people would just rather spend the money and go somewhere else, they have BSB here which they enjoy.

I dont know the answer, I think simply that a lot of UK fans are either not bothered about GP racing, and also don't really like the place to attend. it is not as intimate as Donington, the racing is great at times, but you do feel more distant.

And I am sure if Dorna/LIberty/Pringle knew the answer they would do something.

The question is if you dropped the prices by 50% do you think you would get 150k there over 3 days? Do you think if say Redding was on a factory Ducati and was leading the series you would? I think it would help, but not sure it would add tens of thousands to the gates.

The British crowd does not warm to Marquez, that is clear, and there is noone else then can really like, I think Fabio had the potential and for me Pedro is a huge talent that will be popular everywhere next year I hope. That may play a part

How low can you drop the prices ? It’s £100 for 3 days roving grandstands, the biggest issue is people still think Donington would draw more people and it wouldn’t, Silverstone despite not being the greatest track for spectators does provide great racing, moto 2 and 3 were both very good.

There does seem to be a change in people who go, some younger people and all female groups, it felt busier this year than other years too and there was a bit more going on than last year so I don’t doubt Silverstone are trying.

One thing you don’t see on tv is how quick they start to pack everything up, the baggers finished and they started taking down all the estrella signs and the merchandise stands were closed and being emptied

The Rossi rise also coincided with Foggy ending, so likely fair number of Brit switching back to GPs from Superbikes as their main focus

He seemed to be keeping up the pol and toprack, he got by pol and then think he came off around luffield - it’s a shame as he seems to be getting quicker.

The commentatos squeezed every bit of sympathy for Bez and his brave effort, but he finished 3rd so cant be that crocked.
Was nobody else available for the honda crutchlow is sitting on with the engine running? Its like they dont want anyone to look good while the other guy's away injured.
They could have discovered the next marquez.
Maybe they need someone to keep crashing it till zarco can return to resume crashing it.
