Maybe he has been on a performance plan for 6 months which expired?

I read it as he has left Honda immediately, not that he committed gross misconduct.
To go with immediate effect suggest he was escorted from the premises and his employment terminated there and then, that would never fly in a tribunal if it was performance related. If it was performance related and he didn't hit the targets, then there would have to be a consultation period related to improvement before they could start the disciplinary procedure, failure to do so would leave them wide open to an employment tribunal and they would get rinsed big time if that was the reason.
This is much more than just performance related issues, this is something far far worse than that.
How do you know it wasn’t going down that performance route and they agreed to part with a settlement agreement and a pat on the back?
Don’t think there are any reports of him being marched off site?

Do you not think it strange that if it was performance related, they didn't wait until the end of the season?
Or put out a statement saying something along the lines of due to underwhelming performance, Beltran and Honda Racing UK have parted ways with mutual agreement

The people saying there is a reasonable explanation are delusional given the whole picture. Add to it all the continued silence from both parties.

It s as strange as it gets. Even in football how often does a manager get sacked three games from the end of a season? It makes no sense for either party to either sack or jump when there is a whole winter just round the corner just on performance grounds.

Plus Honda have done a lot worse and nothing has happened.

Just an alternative thought on this…. health? (and he wants to keep it very, very private).

I agree that the “personal reasons” explanation may well have been given if this was the case but it’s a possibility.

Albeit perhaps a less likely one than a misconduct dismissal.

Well Heard from a "Good Source" Escorted off the premises. Gross misconduct. But contesting it so potentially court proceeding

If that is the case, then yes GIM and if he is contesting it, then the radio silence is working in his favour to not prejudice his case.
This is getting more intriguing by the day.

Dodgy finances was the trigger for Beltran's exit, apparently.

Overpayments received to his personal account snd not returned or notified to his employer.

Surely just resting in his account?

Although £160k is a lot of money I’d bet he was paid a healthy amount by Honda so seems a bit strange.

I’m a bit more on his side having seen the circumstances. It’s one thing to actively get hold of company money dishonestly and another to be essentially given it.

In one job I had I think they over paid me holiday money. I actually went to management about it and they literally laughed me out of the room. I think I was about £500 up.

I guess it’s all down to how he handled it and the Japanese do a lot of business on trust.

If it was just resting and he didn't notice then he wouldn't have been sacked. I think seeing it and moving it to another account was the issue.

Bizarre behaviour, especially given his high profile and no doubt high salary.

Taking this to an unfair dismissal claim seems unwise

Yes.

No smoke without fire territory really.
