Is this BSB only?
If not, what about McGuinness given the earlier discussion? I m presuming the Dunlops are excluded based on being Northern Irish, so whilst U.K. citizens they aren t British. Then there s the real old school. John Surtees, Phil Read even Barry Sheene.

You would have to include the likes of Dave Potter, Steve Spray, Ron Haslam, the Rogers, Bob Smith.
Its just a discussion point, bit of fun.
I tend to think of BSB as from sort of 96 onwards when it stopped being two series and just became one main British Superbike series, you still had the fag end of TTf1 and Supercup until then.
Odd to think that the Norton and 500 GP bikes could run in British series against road based bikes back then.

Who is/was the best is so subjective as to have no real meaning.
I agree, we could look at all sorts of riders who had stellar seasons, Camier and Morrison being two but although Camier went to WSBK, Morrison faded away especially after moving from the RC30 to the Kawasaki so were they really that good?Ultimately everyone has their favorite era and rider.
Nothing mentioned yet, but I really enjoyed the live coverage on Quest today from Assen.
I can't see anyone other than Kyle Ryde winning the title, but Scott Redding got two wins and nearly made it 3 in a fantastic last race of the day.
Ryan Vickers seems to be getting good results from a fairly uncompetitive bike and Leon Haslam and Rory Skinner did well to get from the back of the grid to 6th and 7th because they couldn't set a time in Race 2 due to mechanical issues.
Roll on Donnington!

It occurred to me that with WSBK changing to Michelin next year, there will be further divergence with BSB from a bike spec and rider learning perspective. Probably doesn't bode well (even worse) for riders trying to move up from BSB.
It's not going to be a progression anytime soon, the requirement for stupid money is putting the best riders off unless they can join a team at the beginning like Bridewell did with Superbike Advocates, otherwise they will have the same experience Vickers and Ray have had recently.theoperative said:

I'm well aware of that. Just thought the technical regs moving even further apart with something as significant as tyres was interesting.Maybe BSB and other national championships will switch to Michelin to align with WSBK over time.
Nitrous in trouble. From their Facebook...
The past season has been an incredibly exciting and, at times, challenging chapter for our team.
Since taking over as Team Principal, I can honestly say I have enjoyed every minute of the journey. I have experienced the highs, the difficult moments, the pressure and the unforgettable memories that come with running a race team at this level.
But more than anything, I have seen first-hand the commitment of the people around this team.
The people who turn up early, stay late, work behind the scenes, prepare the bikes, support the riders and give everything they have to make this team successful. That commitment means a huge amount to me personally.
A PERSONAL COMMITMENT
Running a competitive race team at this level requires a significant financial commitment, and unfortunately, the financial position we find ourselves in today is more challenging than we had originally anticipated.
Nitrous Competitions has been instrumental in helping us get to where we are today, and I want to put on record my genuine thanks for everything they have done for the team.
However, due to unforeseen expenses within the wider Nitrous Competitions business, they have currently only been able to commit approximately 30–40% of the budget that was originally planned for the race programme.
That obviously creates a significant shortfall.
For me, walking away was never an option.
With the future of the team — and particularly the people who have helped build it — at the forefront of my mind, I have personally stepped in with my own finances to help bridge that gap.
I have done that because I believe in this team.
I believe in the people.
And I believe there is something here that is worth fighting for.
My priority has been, and remains, making sure the people who work tirelessly behind the scenes are supported and paid, while giving us the best possible opportunity to continue competing and planning properly for the future.
I have already personally committed budget towards the 2027 season, and preparations are underway.
But I also recognise that I cannot, and should not, carry the entire responsibility alone.
OUR FOCUS IS 2027
Our ambition is firmly focused on the 2027 season.
I want to maintain the structure we have built, retain our team personnel and riders wherever possible, and continue developing the package that has produced such positive results.
We have an experienced team, talented people, strong manufacturer support and a platform that I genuinely believe can continue to grow.
What we need now is the right partner to help us take that next step.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR A TITLE PARTNER
The most important conversation we are now having is around securing a title sponsor or major commercial partner for the 2027 season.
I am looking for a company, brand or individual that wants to become genuinely involved in what we are building — not simply put a logo on a bike.
For the right partner, there is an opportunity to become a significant part of the team's identity and its future.
That could mean title sponsorship and prominent team and rider branding, hospitality, customer and client experiences, commercial activation, technical partnerships, media opportunities or a wider strategic relationship.
I am also open to discussions around a partnership or joint venture covering the final two rounds of the current season, which could then develop into a much larger relationship for 2027.
I want to find a partner who shares our ambition and wants to build something together.
This isn't about simply filling a financial gap.
It's about finding the right person or organisation to join us for the next chapter.
THANK YOU
I would also like to personally thank Ducati Corse for their continued support during this period. Their commitment to the team is hugely appreciated, as is the support we continue to receive from our existing partners, sponsors and suppliers.
And, of course, I want to thank our riders and every member of the team.
I know how much work goes into making this happen, and I don't take any of it for granted.
I have put my own money into this team because I believe in what we have created together.
I believe in the people.
I believe in the potential.
And I believe that with the right title partner alongside us, we can give this team the opportunity it deserves in 2027.
There are challenges ahead. I won't pretend otherwise.
But I also see opportunity.
The past season has shown what can be achieved when you have the right people, the right equipment, the right manufacturer support and the right level of commitment.
Now I want to find the right partner to help us take that forward.
The story isn't over.
In many ways, the next chapter is just beginning.
If you or your organisation would like to discuss becoming our title partner, major sponsor or commercial partner for 2027, I would genuinely welcome the conversation.
This is something I am personally committed to making happen.

That’s a slightly confusing read. It’s like someone writing about themselves in the third person. Compounded by a race team that’s a standalone entity being named the same as the separate sponsor.
I think the writer is the guy with all the neck tattoos who owns the company Nitrous Competitions
Looks like the sponsor business can’t provide the funds it promised to the bike racing team so the co-owner of the sponsor is now funding the gap personally for this year. Then it looks like Nitrous Competitions will be stepping away and need to be replaced as main sponsors.
I don’t think it’s looking great for the series when once again the top team is struggling financially.

There have been rumours for months that they wouldn't see the end of the season, and some dodgy winners of their recent raffles ie people associated with the team, etc...
All a bit odd if you ask me, but no real shock, two riders, they will be being paid, no doubt a bonus system in place aswell for Kyle with wins and title bonuses, those bikes will also be costing probably quarter of a mill or more each to lease plus the factory back up needed to run them and the staff. He runs the company and he is the main sponsor, so it sound to me like he wants to hand the reins over to someone else as he is not making enough money encouraging people to gamble on auctions aswell as spend a fortune on this, BSB has a limited pull for sponsors and I guess he thought running a leading BSB team would mean more people interesting in gambling, presumably not.
lets face it this is the same basic team that ran the infamous drinks guy a few years ago.
If he went, no loss, the whole thing smelt dodgy when it was announced, and he looks like a dodgy sort anyway, the kind of character you see on road rage videos getting out or wrapped Bentleys after you cut them up, not the kind of person I want to see in any sport thanks.

The Nitrous Competitions raffle company is co-owned equally by the looks of it between him and another. Rumours are just rumours, so probably best to let things play out, rather than spreading them. We will all have our own opinions though
