There 100% is. When I was a kid it was our treat that dad used to let us start some of the old bikes. By the time I was 12 or 13 I could start his Velocette first kick - and they're allegedly one of the hardest bikes to kick over due to their short kickstart gearing. Back in the day, when I was in my early 20's, my younger sister had an XT500 that she could always start first kick. There is a definite knack to it.
In my experience it's 50% technique and 50% confidence. Short nervous stabs at a kickstart won't work, you need a confident swing for momentum. Having said that, Velocettes are probably 75% technique and 25% confidence which is handy as one kick back from a Velo is enough to make even the most confident starter nervous next kick
I get the feeling he's probably lost a few thousand viewers after he had a bit of a sabbatical after his operation, and now is trying to drive engagement to get numbers back up. I don't actually mind him too much, but he is definitely playing up with this one to drive engagement, like somebody further up said, garage full of bikes, tools and benches everywhere yet he doesn't have plug spanner/socket?

From memory he was a mid life crisis rider something like 12 or so years ago.

I used to watch him a long time ago, until he started reviewing every big bike by saying, "it's not for girls". When every woman I know could ride rings around him. Oh and having trouble off-roading on flat gravel.
Now I just think he's a sexist old wker who doesn't know what he's doing. Which he proves by putting the disclaimer on every video.
I couldn't care less about 'blokey humour' if any of his skills could match his talk, but he constantly proves how inept he is at everything.

This is still entertaining but tbh it is like watching playschool if anyone remembers that childrens program on bbc in the afternoon.
On one level its ok,but on another level its like insinuating that a classic bike is ideal for someone who knows fk all about bikes.
If this sort of person is encouraged to buy a 50yo bike they will gradually all end up as rusting non runners slung out in the back garden.
You would be lucky to have a kh250 run right every day back in 1976 so it should be an amusing ride to witness.

Followed Andy for years, watched all of these latest Kwak videos, never laughed so much when he nearly had a heart attack trying to start it, yesterday it kicked out more smoke than The Flying Scotsman,

The cycling one lived in the general area of that place where that police officer was dragged to death trying to stop some ne'erdowell stealing a quad a few years ago. It's not too far from where the family of the Princess of Wales live. Which isn't too far from where TMF's mate Allen Millyard lives. Around that time I saw a Kawasaki KH parked up during a lunch break. So I'm thinking 'nice old Kawasaki'. I then clocked it seemed to have five exhaust pipes on it. So I've bought it back to the brilliant Millyard and 2 stroke Kawasakis.

Getting Allen Millyard in would be too easy, he'd have it up and running in ten minutes.
I love MF's content, he doesn't take himself too seriously, and not everyone can be a master mechanic.
That bike is lovely, looking forward to his road test, hopefully, it won't break down a mile from his house.
