Overnight outside
Discussion
To store a bike outside I think three things are required.
1- A cover. Simple deterrent but also offers weather protection, even if its just the worst weather for a few weeks when its frosty/snowy/stormy
2- corrosion protection. My bike will be used year round and I've just used a combination of Acf50 on anything that moves, gets hot or is electrical, and Bilt Hamber DynaxUC on the frame and stands. Hopefully this will help protect from the elements a bit.
3- Locks and alarm. A Battery Angle grinder is the weapon of choice, even a 22mm chain can be defeated in a few minutes. If you have the funds available, there are angle grinder resistant Dlocks and anchors now which have ceramic as part of the composite metallic structure (Hiplok, Litelok, Onguard 8590 etc). They just burn through discs and batteries due to the wear resistance and torque requirements.
I'd also say an alarm of some sort would be useful. Lots of people say theyre not worth having but I'd argue that if someone had a lot of time undisturbed with a virtually silent hacksaw or put the bike on dollies they could have away with it. If you had a loud disturbance alarm then that makes those silent attacks a lot more difficult to do.

There has been a real spate of bike thefts where I live, the police are useless and only offer a crime number rather than any kind of prevention or investigation.
My bike is on the drive as we converted our garage a couple of years before I started riding. If someone really wants something they will take it, I've just focused on making it way too difficult for the opportunist who wants to be quick and quiet. 2 x ground anchors with chains, one additional chain, normal disc lock, alarmed disc lock, ring doorbell and a ring outdoor camera with a manually operated siren. I'm also considering a tracker.
I had exactly this set up for years, and as a beligerent pedant never got lazy and omitted.a step. Had no issues in 10 years. My bike is on the drive as we converted our garage a couple of years before I started riding. I moved and now have a garage … but use the same security set up including tracker.
Kept my bike outside on the road for three years. Only issue ive had is a group of teenage girls sitting on it. Soon ran off when I opened the flat blind in just my boxers...(in my defence I didnt know it was teenage girls!).
Helps that its a GS and boring. Plus were I live isnt too bad. Although a moped did get nicked a few months ago.
Just put my steering lock on. Nothing else as im lazy.
