Carpuride... Worth It or Not?
Discussion
I'm trying to avoid doing some real work so did some googling to look busy..
Look for Audio Settings or Bluetooth Settings.Look for an option labeled "Emit", "Headset Mode", or an option to disable audio transfer to the unit. Turning this off ensures that only screen data goes to the M4, while all music and calls stay routed to your headphones.
Or
Go to your phone's Bluetooth settings and Forget / Unpair the unit.Clear any pairings between your Bluetooth headset and the unit Turn everything off, then power them back on.Pair your headphone/headset directly to your phone first.Pair your phone to the unit second solely for the screen mirroring connection.

For your 1st option - am I looking for these settings on my phone or on the Android Auto unit?
Re the 2nd option, I've tried screen mirroring and it's really not very good so really want to use the Android Auto version.
bought a genuine Carpuride in the end
so hurray I now have sound going to my headphones.
but I'm trying to use calimoto in Android auto on the Carpuride and it won't let me map a route because it says it has no internet. I think this is because it's trying to do it through my phone and the Carpuride unit steals my Wi-Fi connection from the phone when it connects Wi-Fi to Android auto.
does anyone know why I can't have Wi-Fi on my phone and on Android auto (the Carpuride unit) at the same time?

Is your phone trying to use the carpurides WiFi as an internet connection? You have to set your phone to use it's own data connection rather than WiFi, there was probably a prompt you missed where it said that the carpuride had no internet access do you want to stay connected and now your phone is trying to get a data connection from the carpuride WiFi connection.
It all runs through your phone so if it's saying you have no internet connection it's your phone that hasn't got a data connection not the carpuride

thanks for the replies, I think the problem I'm getting is because there is no mobile signal at my house or anywhere in the vicinity.
so to access the internet its WI-Fi or nothing.
as soon as I connect Android auto to my phone I lose the Wi-Fi connection on my phone and the phone has no internet access. it's really annoying because it then means any of the functions on my phone that need the internet no longer work.
I can only use the functions on Android auto which means Google maps works on the Carpuride screen.
I'm guessing everything will probably work if I am away from my Wi-Fi and in an area with a decent mobile signal. but it's a bit annoying that I can't switch the unit on whilst I'm still at home and program up the map and set up my Spotify while I'm on the drive.
I remain baffled why Android auto grabs the Wi-Fi and turns Wi-Fi off on my phone denying my phone access to the Wi-Fi internet.
or maybe I'm just doing something very wrong in the settings but interestingly the cheap Chinese thing I was trying to set up before I got the Carpuride was also doing the same thing so I'm guessing it's a standard arrangement with Android auto.

Wireless Android Auto doesn't just use Bluetooth, it uses WiFi as well.
thanks, yes so it would seem.but why does my phone not have access to the WiFi internet once it's connected to Android auto?
it is surely counterproductive if the phone can no longer perform any internet related functions?
Your phone can only connect to 1 WiFi network at a time.
To use wireless android auto it needs to connect to the carupride via WiFi.
Your phone should then use mobile Internet for apps and Internet access.
If you dont have 4g/5g mobile Internet at home then go somewhere with mobile signal and it will work just fine.
The issue is not the phone or the carupride device, its working exactly as intended. The issue is your crap mobile signal at home. This will not be an issue when you ride somewhere else where signal is better.
Not sure how else it can be explained.

I've now had mine for a couple of days now and I need to have a proper play around with it.
So far, whenever it's connected to my phone I can't hear my Spotify through my helmet. My Cardo is still on and working though as I can still communicate with everyone.
I've tried playing the Spotify through the Carpuride but still nothing.
Also, the map that mirrors my iphone only shows an aerial view, rather than as if you're on the road and following it so at one point yesterday it was upside down.
And the wonder wheel works but I can only get it to turn the volume up and down which is pointless if my music isn't working!
Currently, not worth a light but I need to give it a proper go and the benefit of the doubt before I finally decide whether to keep it or not.

I had a similar issue to start with. The fix for me was to open the Audio Output icon on the Carpuride where you can select your headphones as the audio. So far, whenever it's connected to my phone I can't hear my Spotify through my helmet. The map view isn't a carpirude thing it's an Android auto thing. I'm assuming it was waze giving you a different view to what it normally does on your phone?
Android auto isn't a screen mirroring thing it's like a new app that you've just installed that can run some of your phone apps in a more simplistic style to make them easier to use when driving.
Waze is one of the few that doesn't tend to copy all of your settings across from your phone and acts like the first time you've installed it. Whenever I use a new to me android auto eg a different car I have to go into Waze settings and change the map view to always north and a couple other things. Once I've changed it if I use that car again it remembers those settings.
There's a few other apps I use that do this too, but once they're set they stay the same

You do know that these units are all the same, don t you, genuine or not. Only difference with the Carpuride logod examples sold in the UK is that they re three or four times the price.
Almost I think, but not quite it would seem.I joined the thread because I bought a chinese cheapy but I couldn't get audio into my Senna headphones.
All the suggestions on here, Google and AI were not able to resolve the issue, otherwise I'd have been happy with my £30 cheapy.
Carpuride users had similar audio issues, but easily resolved and covered in the instruction booklet and Youtube videos. It's done via the "audio output" option in the Carpuride settings. Chinese cheapy (at least mine anyway) had no "audio output" that I could find, and believe me I spent a long time trying everything.
But you are almost right - my cheapy seemed almost a clone of the real thing. A case of close but no cigar with mine.
And the real thing was good value at £160 in my opinion as I'll be using it most times I take the bike out.
Last time I had lunch for 2 at the Ivy in Chichester it cost me almost that!!
