KTM 1050/1090 adventure. Not much heavier than a T7 but much better on the road and plenty room. The1050 is cheap, but the 1090 has more power.

As mentioned the old Tenere Xt660 is massive and really only serves tall people but it is a single and therefore any distance it becomes a bit tiresome but the engine has a good character for shortish journeys.

1190 adventure is also in your price point . I am a similar size to you and it's a great fit .
It's also for sale. Message me if you want a link .

And then when you get some budget creep you should be able to get a 1290 super adventure S or R over the winter. Loving my '18 so far.

Nice ergonomics which I believe are very similar to the 1190 etc. 1.8m tall here. Born in metric times.

BMW have got 0% finance on the F900R and XR at the moment. This has cratered the price of used ones which might help you. Though I'm testing an F900R at the weekend as the finance offer means I can afford a brand new one, which is appealling.
At 6' 2" I found turbulence from the F900XR's screen so massively noisy it ruled the bike out. I bought a 9 month old approved used R1250R SE for the same price and fitted a higher (and very comfy) seat.

I'd seen that Bennetts guide myself, at 188cm tall, but they seem to be more concerned about the seat height. It's the combination with the foot pegs that matter too, although that is mentioned. I've had bikes with high saddles that are uncomfortable on my aged knees. frown

Excellent point. Note that good quality aftermarket lower foot pegs are available for lots of bikes - I have a pair on mine because old knees don't bend like they used to.

I went to test ride an F900R, lured by the 0% finance deal. It was a great bike for hooligan riding, but the seat was brutal and it wasn't good for anything other than thrashing.

I immediately thought of a KTM 790/890. They're typically taller and there are plenty of options available in budget. Also lots of choice with Tiger 800s.

You're into 210/215kg as a minimum for almost any of these bikes. But that's 30+kg lighter than GSs etc.

R1250R is a surprisingly sporty ride, all day comfy and the weight being low makes it easy to manhandle.

This is also a fair shout, whilst OP isn't after a 1000cc+ bike they carry their weight so low that they don't feel big. I had a R1200GS previously and I reckon my T7 WR feels heavier to push around because all the weight is up the top.

If you're never planning to go off road (and can stomach the sound of the boxer) then an R1200GS is definitely worth a look.
Agreed, don’t rule out certain bikes based on engine size as they all carry their weight differently. GS is up there with pretty much anything when it comes to touring. Fantastic wind protection, comfy seat, good reliability and if you are lazy like me, no chain maintenance smile

They also will go off road extremely well if you are stupid enough to want to give it a go. I’ve had mine in the Alps up Mount Jafferau via the ski slope road, Sommellier, Via Del Sale etc and yes it’s a big thing to do it on but also very rewarding. And I’m absolutely not a good off road rider.

Moto Guzzi V85TT sounds like it should be considered.

I have one of these. I'm 5'11" and could do with having legs about an inch longer. Really spacious and comfortable bike. Some owners complain about buffeting/turbulence, but mine has a wind deflector thing on the screen and it's perfect
