just had a quick search on the usual tyre sites and yes Nankang are the only ones I saw too.
They are almost certainly going to be better than old dated tyres but I wouldn't expect too much from them if driven hard, if you don't drive like a looney then they are fine.
other options would be to put the 17s away and maybe find some 19s as there would be more tyre options available to you.

Very many thanks for getting back to me. The Michelins I presently have are as old as the hills so I'm sure you are right!
I do have some 18" wheels that I use for trackdays with Toyo 888s (haven't done one for a while but hopefully that will change) so the 17" wheels are just for poodling around so yes - I guess I'll go with the Nankangs.

Michelin Pilot sport PS2 fronts are available at tire rack in the USA, but the rears are on backorder. Michelin still list them on their USA website so they might be available somewhere/someday, or its just there are a few fronts with old date codes laying around a Michelin/tirerack warehouse somewhere.
Might be worth giving north hants tyres are ring see what they can source and ship over for you. Or just put something decent on the 18's which will work on the road and track and leave the old ones on the old 17" wheels for history's sake although Michelin UK only list the fronts in 18" so not sure if that is even viable anymore.
