Over the last few years I have noticed a general rise and fall in the number of cars for sale and this year doesn't look to out of the ordinary. I remember there being about 120 on here for a month or so last year and then when the sun came out they dropped to 60-80 cars again.
I always wondered what would happen to Chim values if the production numbers for Chims and Griffs were swapped (i.e., 1800 Chims vs. 6200 Griffs!?) With Chims widely being accepted as the slightly easier car to live with day-to-day, I would imagine Chimaera prices being even higher than Griffs are today. Anyhow I digress; there will be at least 1 Chim that won’t be for sale any time soon cloud9

This car is owned by a friend of mine, who to be honest has struggled to sell because of the state of the outriggers etc.

He has now bitten the bullet, and replaced the outriggers and had the remaining chassis repainted by a TVR Specialist in Boroughbridge North Yorkshire.

At the same time, he has had the fuel pipes replaced, and more importingly the camshaft has been replaced as well.

This cars wants for nothing in the what may go wrong bracket.

This is an honest sale, contact the TVR specialist to confirm the above.

Tell you what, i travelled from Halifax in Yorkshire to buy my Chim in Newquay Cornwall 7 years ago.

If you are after a car with everything, and dont mind Green cars, you would be stupid not to concider this car no matter where you live!!

Condition is everything...and this car has everything...if i was on my own, i would by it just for the sake of it.
spot on! living in the midlands I bought my Gitfire from Cornwall too, my chim came from near liverpool. always had what I NEEDED - for me was a 4.3 or 4.5 engine and not green. that was it (oh and at the right price aswell) the car I ended up buying was offered to me before sale from a PH, checked it out and whilst abit scratty round the edges, it had the 4.3 engine, drove lovley and chassis was solid, throw in some gaz golds fitted aswell and a good price and I went back a couple of weeks later and collected it!

This mind you was after quite a few months of looking...........

Ah you see instantly a preferance to full grill or face lift..totally personal thing as both models drive the same

It's silly I know but I just prefer the look of the Facelift..... and of course the door poppers under the mirrors smile

As I'm in no hurry I can afford to be picky I suppose....

My first TVR was a 98 Chim 450(full front/rear facelift), didn't look at any early ones only wanted full facelift. When I bought my second Chim I was initially thinking the same as never really liked the early ones before, dont know what changed but I suddenly decided I really liked the early ones and that's what I bought! I think I was swung by the price considering the work that had been done to it but I wouldn't change it now, must admit I do prefer the later dash though.

I was going to start a thread about the amount of chims and that has been answered here, so does any body have any idea how many from the 6200 are left on the road?

Condition is the name of the game,a 500 for £9000 is bottom end of condition generally.

Doesnt matter how old the car is if its got all the good points,Chims are basically the same throughout the year range and not everybody wants a big boy 500,a really good 4.0.4.5 is miles better than an average 500

My 500 Crank snapped over No.8 journal. a horrible experience!

A 4.6 crank was sourced & machined / modified (so I'm told)and now it's a 5.2.

I stand corrected, you can indeed buy a 500 for that kind of money. You have to question the condition of them though, surely?

As for me buying a car, I've been looking for less than 2 weeks, give me a chance rolleyes

I'm taking this seriously and want to find 'my' car, not 'any' car.

sometimes after all the advice which comes from other peoples opinions its best to go with your own gut instinct i always do and its paid off but one thing you can be sure of that when i sell mine i will only buy a facelift model ive had a pre facelift before and the later cars seem and feel better thats my opinion now time to get your chequebook out
