Ah I thought they looked different to standard. Not really noticed them as too busy listening to the exhaust and scaring my mates witless. However they do look good.

The first production 4.3 was a Starmist Green car, ordered at the end of 1992 by Newtown Motors as their demo car.
The chassis number for this Chimaera ends 1131, so as far as other 4.3's are concerned ,the nearer to this build number, the earlier the car.
HTH

  • ETA The early cars in build were both 4.0 and 4.3, so the build numbers between 1131 and other 4.3's include any 4.0's built as well. Hope im making sense biggrin.
That's odd as mine was registered Apr 94 and it's number is 116x, some 30 odd higher. So chassis's may not have been dished out in order of manufacture, with some sitting around for a while scratchchin
Sorry, should have been more specific, really early cars will have PM PA or PB as the tenth an eleventh digit of the chassis number as well.
If you pm me the reg i should be able to find and copy you the build info for your car.

Sorry to butt in but I would be very interested to find this info on my car too. Long story but just prior to me buying it the mechanic who changed the clutch was informed that it was a BV. I'd like to know if it is possible to tell as it would explain the lumpy idle and stop me pulling the rest of my hair out trying to "fix" it...mad Would you mind if I sent you details... Please, pretty please.biggrin

My first chim was L711JTF (star mist green) which was a 4.3L delivered at Henley Heritage in March/April 1994, I have lots of photos when it was built in the factory.
