I do not understand what you want say with the last message.

Certainly you will find chassis which are maded well.

On side 4 of this topic I show the "Silver Falcon" which is made from producer with one stainless steel chassis.

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

And that not all stainless steel grades are well for salt water will tell you eveyone who work on martitim field.

Take a look to the pictures of the stainless steel chassis which you can here now there you can find the begin of rust too. And I do not think that this chassis was produced by a professional welder which has which has routine/ praxis with welding of stainless steel.

That with low volume and basically bespoke built cars like TVRs it will be nigh-on impossible for an TüV/MOT/Dekra etc inspector to ascertain whether certain parts of a car are 'original' or not... And certainly not in a foreign country 15-20 or more years after the car was built by a factory that expired 6 years ago now with no official body holding records of what went on which car. wink

You would be surprise what some inspectors know about this cars in foreign country. The german TÜV for example
collect all datas of all cars which get a licence to drive on street. There you ask about specifiations of
car which are made before 100 years. And over EU regulations they know near to all about TVR and other cars
because the uk mot and ministry.

There in lies the problem and what 900T-R was eluding to, your TÜV is relying on British Transport authority info, which we all know does not have accurate info about our cars, PW was notorious for it...quantities, models variants, figures etc. were all massaged. not to mention the fact that chassis were registered before assembly so could have become anything from that point on particularly during the chim/griff production period.
Also, all models under went continuous development, and no records were kept, or submitted to the authorities as to what development changes were made during production as it was not manditory to do so.
