Hello,

Just a little thing which is bugging me on my new Chimaera. The very top rear corner of the driver's side window is hitting the folding rear hood and is leaving a mark. Sometimes the door won't close very easily and I'm worried the glass might break one day.

Here's the only pic I have on me right now:

Can the door or window be adjusted to bring the top corner away from the hood a little bit? It all seems to fit ok elsewhere and the passenger side is perfect.

Thanks,

Dan

I have the same problem on my drivers side. I had the door card off and attempted to realign the window by undoing the metal strip bolts that hole the glass in place, but the window fell back into its original position. can you push your window forward into the ali door pillar, as if there is alot of play between glass and the rubber runner channel? I think the rubber channels which the window runs on as it goes up and down are worn, and need replacing I think.

Hi Dan, by the looks of it your door is a bit low on the top left hand side . Mine has a 6mm-ish gap at the top which is level with the back wing. I think Ive read on here somewhere that you can adjust the level, which would then relieve the top of the glass away from the hood, but can be a bit of a pig job . Great looking car by the way ,welcome to Tiv world .wavey

there's an adjustment screw if you look under the rubber at the door top...in the middle (inside I think )

Was going to mention that (got a picture somewhere too) but it looks like Dan's glass is too far back, the adjustment screw only makes the height change.

I'll get a better photo tonight, then I can ascertain what exactly needs adjusting - door or window.

I totally agree, the glass height is not the issue, adjusting the glass height is easy enough to do with the adjustment knob in the top middleofthe door just below the brush which hides it. Your doorglass has dropped back thats all, just need to find a way to re- adjust, I am sure new rubber runners will do the job, unfortunatley I am away from my car for a month or 2. frown

Oops, forgot to get a picture of the window this morning. Will try to get one tonight.

Is this the right runner you're talking about?

It does look like you're right, the window is too far back, not too high. Incidentally, I did notice the other day that the window doesn't quite butt up to the seal on the hard top. There is a tiny gap.

That's when you want the adjuster tweaking.

I can't find my picture right now, but on the outside of the glass, about half way-ish back at and angle of probably nearly 30 degrees blade forward you'll find the adjuster, need a decent flat blade screw driver and 5 mins twisting one way or the other.
Looking at the picture though if you tweak it up more it might actually move it back more at the top which would make your problem worse. Is there a gap at the channel at the front? If the door is open can you move it vertically on the hinge?

Can't promise, but was thinking of a run out on Sunday if we are free to look at boats biggrin you working? I could take a quick look if you've not sorted it by then.

Thanks. Yes, I wouldn't be able to adjust it any higher in it's current position as it would push it up into the rear hood even more. I could push the window forwards, but it seems the entire door card was moving when I did.

I'm not working this Sunday, no, but I am on my own. My other half is out all day at a show so I could drive over to meet you. Work is only a couple of minutes from my house. Or you could meet me at my house.

Haha.

Here are some photos. Looks like it is the window which has dropped back, out of the runner.

How it sits normally....

With me pushing the back of the window, forcing it into the runner....

Is that enough clearance when you push the glass into the runner ?
