Is that enough clearance when you push the glass into the runner ?
Yes, it's spot on.

Hopefully someone will come along to explain how to adjust the runner - I've no idea.

Me niether, I had had the door glass out and everything, having the window perfectly seated in the runners, its like there is alot of play between the front and back runner, the back runner needs bringing forward a mm or so to take up the slack?

This link shows how the rear runners are fixed, the fronts are much the same but I can't get the camera in there. So long as the front runner is snugly up against the windscreen frame I wouldn't touch it anyway. Careful not to bend the ali. runner as it obviously has to be the same profile as the glass.
Good luck.

Thanks for that info. Very useful. It's hard to see exactly what I need to do from the photos, I will look into taking the door panel off and seeing what's involved.

I haven't searched, is it difficult to get the door panel off?

Something I need to learn too but from what I have read you need to remove the speaker then there are 3 10mm nuts located in inaccessible places, one I believe towards the front and 2 to the rear, one low and one high, I'm sure someone has posted a pic before. It also helps if you pre-break your forearm about half way along.

On another note - Sunday Lunch in the forest looks like it may be on (wife likes The Mayflower, I'm open to suggestions) I'll drop you a mail.

When re-fitting the door trim it's a good idea (not mine I have to say) to replace the original nuts with wing nuts....easier next time. The best chance of reaching these nuts is by borrowing an agile 5 year old!

Good tip, thanks.

I have fairly small (weedy) arms, failing that, my girlfriend is tiny!

There are 4 nuts inside the door! 1 is at the front of the door and the other 3 follow the door pocket along and up. You need to sit on the floor facing the rear of the car and use your left hand to locate the nuts then use a ratchet spanner. When you have removed the nuts pull the door trim away and mark the electrical plugs as they are the same,
Good luck and it sounds harder than it is

Hi,

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I have the exact problem where my drivers window is taking a tiny bite out of the hood each time the door closes.

Does anyone know if there was an eventual solution to this issue?

Definitely replace the window runner rubbers, they are clearly well past their prime. Cheap as chips and easy once you start to dismantle the door.

Never knock the window drive attachment off the bottom, in the Griff version the glass rotates out of the channels very easily.

Other than that, the door glass runners are pretty basic to understand.
