What did you do in the garage yesterday?
Discussion
You can leave the serp engine drained for as long as you like.
Don't forget, when you rebuild an engine as I have recently there is no oil in the engine at all.
Just fill the oil filter, spin on the filter, fill with oil as normal and turn the key.
I have a digital oil pressure gauge and it shows oil pressure in the first one second of the engine starting so you have no worries about running the engine without any oil for even a short period.

On the Chim.
Made up a new rear exhaust hanger from the same diameter coach bolt. A perfect match!
Fixed the dodgy bulb holder so now I have a reversing light.
Tried to raise the engine on the nearside by fitting a four mm spacer as my ACT Y piece was virtually touching the chassis even though I have new SC Power engine mounts.
That was unsuccessful and in raising the engine on that side as it pushes the engine mount out of alignment and the mount holes didn't line up with the chassis bolt holes.
The remedy was to put a nice indent into the underside of the ACT Y piece.
This shouldn't be necessary and I wonder if the SC Power engine mounts are slightly different and drop the engine slightly in its cradle?
Fitted a new harness and sender to my spa oil pressure/temperature gauge and at last it works after sending the whole lot back to them twice before, about bloody time!
Adjusted handbrake cable.
On the Vixen.
Disconnected and took out the leaking fuel tank.
Took the Chim for an MOT today, got an A* and no advisories.
Celebrated by taking it for about a 40 mile drive this afternoon.
You would be hard pushed to find any car that would get around dry country lanes as quick as this one. After months of driving the ML I had forgotten how fast and how tenacious the handling on this car is.

A*
Got 4 axle stands out ready to lift car onto them to remove exhaust as it's vibrating, rubber bushes that hold the silencer proud are perished so got replacements.
I've also got an old set of shocks off a Grief to put on my car so I can get my 18 month old shocks sent off for repairs.
Replaced the NS front upper ball joint.
Absolute pig of a job, bolts were all seized so plenty of plus gas and heat needed, then the ball joint took an awful lot of persuasion to come off.
Fortunately the new ball joint fitted straight in without any issues.
I was planning on doing the OS as well but I've had enough! NS is the only one that really needed to be changed, though.
Now I'm off to nurse my poor hands...

Are you absolutely sure you are not a TVR dealer/repairer? Made up a new rear exhaust hanger from the same diameter coach bolt. A perfect match!

I'd be more inclined to think the Y piece is not as accurate as claimed I had no issues with the original manifolds but after Powers fitted ACT ones and the Y piece, the offside was just touching causing vibration. I managed to jack the engine up, wrap the new manifolds and then bolt it a little higher. But they are still very close.....
Got the driver's door card off to bolt in a new driver's door mirror......then realised that i could have done it without removing the door card, so did the passenger side one without.
Corrado mirrors fitted (as per late Griffs and T cars). German quality so much better than French, but the wiring is different. My friendly electrician got it all working, but now down is up and up is down, if you see what i mean. It's a TVR - so it may well end up upside down anyway.

Smart work Anthony, but we do need to see new paint job piccs please, at least 10 pictures Corrado mirrors fitted (as per late Griffs and T cars). Just paying the price for being flat out at work.
I could do with use of said punch - buy, or buy/borrow off the next owner?
Haha, too late, you'll need to contact TailEndCharlie to see if you can borrow/buy it now I could do with use of said punch - buy, or buy/borrow off the next owner?

I have a hole cutter for the gauges........I could do with use of said punch - buy, or buy/borrow off the next owner?
I will probably go for a CF one from Central, and I want to incorporate an AFR gauge and an oil temperature gauge. Seems the obvious time to do it, on changing over.
Expect considerable cursing from QBee Towers when the ~@:@~@:~ lights won't come out and the ~@:~@:~@: gauges won't fit in the new one, especially as i want to move the clock and fuel gauge further right (to the new holes cut in the obvious places beside the speedo and rev counter) so that the important ones are grouped together in the old holes.
