You can borrow my plug after this weekend.
bow I'd be very grateful and happy to pay for p&p and a deposit if you want one.

It it is the answer to my quest to find the vibration I'll be buying you a few beers that's for sure.

The engine has been balanced by John Eales (well, his engine balancer) so it should run smooth as silk.

A tool for every engine.

Peter...my tool for the RV8 measures 43mm from seat washer to tip and gives a dead stop 20 degrees either side TDC.

Thought I would experiment with my camshaft timing this afternoon.

Dismantled the front-end, used my homemadtooll to find TDC, (It was long enough Steve) and reset the valve timing as discussed with Simon and Rob.

About another hour to assemble but might leave it till tomorrow as I feel a nice Sunday dinner coming on and a glass of wine or two!

Next move , A spin up to Joolz for a tweak and see what the results are on the rolling road.

Mine was more B&Q than Halfords. I have a gap between the roof panel and the top of the window glass - I have changed rooves, there was no gap with my TVR roof panel.

Bought a thin strip of wood, covered with a white lamina, just wider than the metal track that holds the window top rubber. Cut it to size, removed the rubbers, noting which way around they go, unscrewed the 5 grub screws holding the track in place, removed the track, drilled the wood with a 2.5mm drill and reassembled.

Little fairy liquid on the rubbers, slid them back in place (oooh matron!) and job's a good 'un.
Almost proud of myself. Will have to have a glass of wine to celebrate. I leave the proper stuff to people who do have a clue. Next week - change the headlights. yikes

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

That could go horribly wrong but, if you don't try it you won't find out I guess.

I agree. Too easy to damage the new paint. If I can get the cowls off then I can at least see if the old ones will come out. Perhaps a couple of glasses of wine first for courage.....

Was your cam timing far enough out to make the difference you're hoping for, Peter?

Hi Rik.
Cam timing was at 110° but I have increased it to 114°

It wasn't out as it was timed as it should be but for some reason the peak power was only at 5000 rpm and yet with the same cam a couple years ago it produced its peak power at 5750 rpm .

About 6 hours work so not the end of the world if it pays off!

Changed front main seal... have been chasing a leak for ages so this is the last possible short of a cracked or porous block. Actually think it was the culprit as was a bit crispy when I eventually got the sod out... gave me chance to look closely at the turbo etc after 2 years use... clean as a whistle; pleased to see no cracks on the manifold so quick polish of the bright work and back in tomorrow

QBee, have you noticed any noise difference since fitting your turbo? Mine always seems quieter than standard cars.
After fitting the boost gauge, I find I rarely have time to look at it as I'm going through the gears too fast. However, as it is also a vacuum gauge I find I keep an eye on it as a change in the Hg reading may point to early detection of a fault. However, it is fun to look at the boost in 5th gear (over 3,000rpm) when you floor it and see the reading go past 10 smokin

Car seems really quiet. No danger of breaking noise limits on track days now, despite being decatted.
I used to avoid starting the
car before 7 am for concern over waking the grandchildren - now it doesn't seem any noisier on start up than my Volvo.

PS, I didn't bother with a boost gauge, but it has an AFR gauge, and I will be fitting an oil temperature gauge asap
