That design should only be used where there is a flange to locate it, it's only for emergency use on the vehicle it came with.
Do yourself a MASSIVE favour and get yourself a trolley jack to lift (but keep using the stands too).
New ones on the 'bay' from under £20 delivered... less than the cost of repairing your sill idea

Is the drain plug supposed to be Magnetic or Not?

Mines not…

Here we have the Chimmy just about ready for the road after 10 years of sitting up. The electrics needed an overhaul and immobiliser fix. Whoever pre owned this car was living by the seat of his pants as the oil pick up pipe was clogged by gasket gunk, it's was a good drive away from going bang. That beautiful v8 sound is back!!!

Good luck with the weather.....snowing here.

My wife was silent in the passenger seat on her day with me at Cadwell Park. Well almost.....she said just two words as I took to the rumble strip on the outside of Park Bend (her side) at around 80 mph, braking down from 120 and missing the apex. The first word was “Oh”.

Now whenever asked about that day she makes a comment about trouser colour. hehe

So, after waiting for 3 months to get the car back after its new windscreen and respray, I get the call and off we go to not-so-sunny Sheffield. Arriving at the workshop, can see the car peeping out of the entrance, just waiting for me to become intimate again. A quick walk around before going into the office and notice a mark on the front edge of the bonnet. Give it a wipe but its not moving. Turns out its a scrape about 8" long banghead
FFS, just can't believe it. So we drove home again. Two hours wasted. furiousmadcurseweeping

i cant understand this kind of attitude as you may know i recently did a very arduous rebuild on a yellow chim not any bodywork mind but still spent loads of time making it look as good as i could for the client just seems to me that you are only as good as your last job and reputations can very easily be lost

No one seems to know how it happened (unsurprising) confused The repairer said he didn't notice it when it came back from the paint shop. I was wondering if someone parking outside had caught it when pulling in front of the doors.
I should have SORNed it and saved some money rolleyes
So disappointed now.

This kind of thing really annoys me (i'm being serious for once). As far as I'm concerned its about taking ownership, if a garage/Indie/paintshop or whatever (basically an organisation that charges for their services) can't look after a customers car as if it were their own then they don't deserve people's business. I'm very fussy about who I let work on my cars, I have three places I use, depending on which car and what the job is. So many companies out there that are only interested in relieving you of your hard earned money to line their own pockets, not to give you a professional service where integrity and customer satisfaction comes first...

Fu**ing Bast**ds, I hope they rot in a sewage filled gutter in a third world country where they have limited access to medical facilities. I've worked in some of those places so I know what I'm talking about.

Rant over.

Chilli.

^^^^^ exactly how I feel right now.
They were more interested in showing me the 'proper' bonnet hinge box (mine's an early one that didn't have one fitted). Oh and we had to fit 2 new hinges but the insurance company wont pay for them. I was looking at the dust all over the engine.....
They were unable to match the paint so have resprayed all the front end then 'blown over' the rest. I was too upset/angry to open the doors to see if they had done the openings as the 'new' colour is so much lighter than the original. I think this has a long way to go yet.

I was going to try and say something amusing like this won’t make it any faster biggrin or just why you are doing it at all so on that second point

Are you doing this for the new Ecu so you can remove dizzy which will then need something to retain the cam position as in Serp, I’ve just answered my own question,,, yours is pre Serp Pete yes?
It’s fast enough thanks hehe

The car is home now after its 3 month vacation. All done and sorted. Just got to clean the engine, fix the grille and repaint it confused, hoover out all the dust from the interior and remove all the oily foot marks from the carpet. Couldn't be arsed argue and complaining any more.
The new windscreen - genuine TVR part - has been fitted excellently and what a difference to forward visibilty, its so clear now. cool

Bloody eck, that’s what I did and was about to say, No, stand your ground and not accept it until it’s to your standard.
Anyway least she’s safe and home
